Orange Shirt Day at STMY - Sept 29th
St. Mary's celebrated Orange Shirt day on Thursday, Sept. 29th. Orange Shirt Day was created as an opportunity to discuss the effects of residential schools and their legacy. It honours the experiences of Indigenous Peoples, celebrates resilience, and affirms a commitment that every child matters.
In preparation for this day the Staff of St. Mary's and St. Martin's took part in a Blanket Exercise as a part of our Professional Development that allows people to reflect on the devastating impact of residential schools and colonialism in Canada. This exercise was brought into our school as many students participated in Social Studies class as well as heard the Papal Apology from this past summer in Religion Classes while praying for the victims of residential schools. It was a powerful day with truth and reconciliation at the forefront.
TERRY FOX RUN A SUCCESS AT STMY
Our annual Terry Fox run was held this year on Wednesday, September 28th. Led by Mr. Paulichuk students learned about the story of Terry Fox and raised money for this amazing cause. Thank you to all of the students who brought a TOONIE FOR TERRY on the day of the walk.

POST - SECONDARY REGISTRATION : IMPORTANT INFORMATION FOR OUR CURRENT GRADE 12 STUDENTS
We will be hosting a Post-Secondary registration and info day here at St. Mary's on October 3rd as a part of the 4th Block in Religion.
It is important for parents/guardians to be available (via phone/text, ideally) should questions arise during the registration process and students need to contact them.
School staff and administration will be on hand to assist students in registering for post-secondary studies at the University, College, and Technical schools of their choice.
In order for this to be a success, students should bring/prepare the following:
-a list of the top 3-4 institutions/programs they are wanting to register at
-a credit card to pay online registration fees (or payment information)
-”MyPass” login information
-have logged into ‘ApplyAlberta’ and set up their profile with username and password
- Bring their own device to complete online applications.
If students or parents have any questions they can direct inquiries to either Mr. Manderson or Mr. Murphy.
