The webstore will be open for orders until October 27, with a targeted date to be shipped to homes of November 10th. The webstore will remain open throughout the year on a rolling basis after the initial order period.

Brrr! We have started to enjoy some crisp and chilly fall mornings. We will still have recess outdoors if it is not raining, so please wear a coat!

I wanted to say a huge thank you for the incredible community support for our recent Book Fair! It was very successful, and donations were such that by Tuesday, all students, PreK – 5th grade, were given the choice of selecting a book, should they wish to get one and had not already done so!

Albemarle County Public Schools is celebrating Farm to School Month by featuring some locally grown and raised food items on our October menu! Our Child Nutrition Program is excited to partner with local distributors and growers to expand student access to fresh and nutritious meal options! The October menu will include:

🐤 Chicken from Shenandoah Valley Organics (Farmer Focus) in Shenandoah Valley, VA;

🐄 Beef from Seven Hills Food in Lynchburg, VA;

🥬️ Kale from Kirby Farms in Mechanicsville, VA;

🥔 Potatoes from Puckette Farms in Gladys, VA; and

🍎 Apples from Silver Creek & Seamans’ Orchards in Tyro, VA.

The Virginia Farm to School program helps students learn about the seasonality of food products, the importance of supporting local agriculture, and the benefits associated with reducing transportation costs and protecting farmland.
