Open Houses

Open Houses will be held January 23rd- February 1st. Principals will send a ParentSquare

message to their 2023-2024 students’ families the week before. Parents will sign-in at the open

houses. Here is a schedule for each event:

● Abraham Lincoln: Wednesday, Feb 1st from 6-7 p.m.

● Clinton Young: Tuesday, Jan 24th from 6-7 p.m.

● Douglas MacArthur: Thursday, Jan 26th from 6-7 p.m.

● Glenns Valley: Monday, Jan 23rd from 6:30-7:30 p.m.

● Henry Burkhart: Monday, Jan 30 from 6-7 p.m.

● Homecroft: Monday, Jan 23rd from 6:30-7:30 p.m.

● Jeremiah Gray: Thursday, Jan 26th from 6-7 p.m.

● Mary Bryan: Thursday, Jan 26th from 6-7 p.m.

● Rosa Parks: Wednesday, Feb 1st from 6-7 p.m.

● Southport: Tuesday, Jan 31st from 6-7 p.m.

Intra-District Transfer

Applications for the intra-district transfer process will open February 6th and close February

17th at the end of the day. The target date to send acceptance letters is March 10th. If a parent

chooses not to accept the intra-district transfer for the 2023-2024 school year, they must notify

the office of Assistant Superintendent for Foundational Learning at Perry Township Education

Center no later than April 7th. Information for this process will be shared in all school

newsletters.

After reviewing our transportation routes, we determined that it was necessary to update the

boundaries for our kindergarten academies for the 2023-2024 school year. Your child’s

kindergarten will no longer be based on the elementary schools. It will be determined by your

residence within these newly established boundaries.

To find your kindergarten, please use the map on our website. You can type in your exact

address to find which school your kindergartener will attend.

If you have already registered for kindergarten and your school changed, the principal will

contact you. You do not need to fill out a new enrollment form. Your child’s information will be

transferred to their new school.

If you have not registered for kindergarten yet, please do so using the updated map. The

enrollment forms can be found on our website.

We appreciate your understanding and patience during this transition. If you have any

WELCOME TO THE 2022-2023 SCHOOL YEAR!

We are so happy to see many old faces in our building, as well as, welcoming many new students, staff, & faculty to our Mary Bryan family.

We have some policy changes that are now in effect for our building. Please note the following:

1. You must have a car rider tag displayed in your vehicle to pick up your child in the car rider line at the end of the day. If you do not have a tag you must park & come into the front office. You may request car tags through the front office. You may also call Mrs. Terra Weddell @ 317)789*2609 or email your request to tweddell@perryschools.org.
2. Changes to afternoon transportation for your student MUST be made to the front office no later than 3:00.
3. As always, please make sure you have your ID to pick up your children.
4. Make sure you send your children to school with a reusable water bottle. Fill up stations are located throughout the building.

• The dentist is coming to our school for their 6 month Spring visit in April and May! The School Smiles on-site dental program provides on-site dental care at our school for ALL students that signup to participate. The dental team will set up inside our school and they accept Medicaid, private insurance, offer self-pay rates and grants through their foundation. Registration is now open online at: www.schoolsmiles.com/student-signup with over 100 languages to choose from when completing the online form.

As a reminder we will see all the students we saw in the fall for their cleaning visit, any students still in need of follow up treatment, anyone that might not have been eligible but now is, as well any new families that would like to sign up for the dental program.

Parenting and Child Development

Parenting is hard, and it has been even more difficult through the pandemic as children have been impacted in ways that are not fully understood yet. While every child is different, it can be helpful to have places to turn to when you have questions about child development and raising healthy, happy kids. This month we will be highlighting several websites that can be helpful in supporting families.

What should your child be doing in their early development? The CDC has lots of information about physical, cognitive, and social development:

Our students complete one unit (5 lessons) each 9 weeks. Each unit has a different focus. This quarter, all of our students will be learning about Emotion Management. The Parent information for each grade level is attached below. This will give you an overview of what your student is learning and ideas for how to build on these skills at home.

As we begin to host more home athletic events this year we want to remind families and

students about conduct at our events.

Students attending athletic events should only be sitting in the stands during the games. For

the safety of our students and guests, no one should be playing behind the bleachers or

along the stands. Additionally, no one should enter the event with outside footballs, soccer

balls, etc. They will be taken away.

We appreciate your cooperation and thank you for supporting our athletes!

Student Ticket Policy

All students will be admitted into home athletic events that are not Marion County or IHSAA

tournaments for FREE this school year (2022-2023).

● Grades 9-12 will be admitted free with their student ID.

● Grades K-8 will be admitted free when accompanied by a paid adult.

● Middle school students can attend middle school athletic events for free with their ID.

However all other students must be accompanied by a paid adult.
