CCSD Connections
A Monthly Parent Newsletter - April 2023
Superintendent's Message
Dear CCSD Family,
It's hard to believe it, but we're already in the home stretch of our school year. This school year is quickly approaching its end, and our final six weeks will fly by with its busy schedule of assessments and celebrations.
Our students later this month will begin state Milestones testing to measure their learning success for the past year. These tests help our teachers and instructional leaders determine how we can continue to improve classroom instruction for all of our students.
Our high school seniors this month begin checking off their own end-of-year milestones, with prom and senior class festivities all capped off with graduation.
Even if you don't have a graduate this year, you're welcome to join us at the ceremonies, which are inspiring for all, especially our younger students. All ceremonies are at First Baptist Church of Woodstock, and there is no limit on student guests: May 25 - 2 p.m. i-Grad Virtual Academy, 4 p.m. River Ridge HS, 8 p.m. Cherokee HS; May 26 - 4 p.m. Sequoyah HS, 8 p.m. Woodstock HS; May 27 - 9 a.m. Creekview HS, 1 p.m. Etowah HS. The ceremonies are livestreamed, too.
Spring is a time for registering students new to CCSD for next school year. We now are accepting online registration for kindergartners and all other new students. Learn more about registration online here.
After five years, it's also time to revamp and upgrade our CCSD website (and all our school websites). A lot of work is going into the new design, which we plan to unveil later this month. While we know it may take a few minutes to get oriented and find your favorite pages and links, we hope the new layout is user friendly for all our parents, students and community!
Thank you,
Dr. Brian V. Hightower
