Important Message: School Safety and Student Behavior
Dear Franklin Families,
We wanted to bring a matter of utmost importance to your attention regarding student behavior in our school. Over the past few weeks, we have observed an alarming increase in students making threats towards others, either in a joking manner or out of frustration. These incidents often occur in the context of video games and social media, and they are occurring on a daily basis.
The safety and well-being of our students is our top priority, and we want to ensure that every student feels safe and secure when they come to school, creating an environment conducive to learning. When threats, even if they are meant as jokes, are made, they can have serious consequences. They not only create fear and anxiety among our students but can also disrupt the school day, even if it is limited to a single classroom.
To address this issue and ensure the safety of all students, our school is required to conduct Behavioral Threat Assessments whenever such incidents occur. These assessments are crucial in evaluating the seriousness of the threats and determining the appropriate response. We want to emphasize that even if an incident is intended as a joke, it must be taken seriously due to the potential impact on others.
We kindly ask for your support in discussing this matter with your child at home. It is essential that students understand the gravity of their words and actions and the impact they can have on their peers and the school community as a whole. Encouraging open and honest communication about the consequences of their behavior is a critical step in addressing this issue.
We appreciate your understanding and cooperation in helping us maintain a safe and conducive learning environment for all students. Together, we can ensure that our school remains a place where students can thrive academically and emotionally.
If you have any questions or concerns, please do not hesitate to reach out to us. Thank you for your continued support in creating a safe and inclusive school community.
All the Best,
Mrs. L'Etoile
Carline Reminder
We kindly request that all cars pull up all the way in the carline each morning. When everyone does this, it allows more cars to drop off their child(ren) at once, making the process smoother and reducing wait times for everyone. If there are gaps in the carline, it slows down the flow, leading to longer waits. Your cooperation and support with this are greatly appreciated. Thank you.
Please take a moment to fill out this short form by clicking on the link below and let us know why you appreciate someone on our campus:

Important Arrival/Dismissal Time Reminders for Elementary and Middle School
AM Carline Reminder:
For our elementary school students, we have noticed that there is little to no line to drop off students at 7:20 am, which provides an excellent opportunity for a smooth and stress-free drop-off experience. To give your child ample time to settle in and be ready for the start of their classes at 7:30 am, we kindly request that you aim to arrive prior to 7:30 am. Any student arriving late to school (7:30 AM for Elementary students and 8:30 AM for Middle School Students) will be marked as tardy. Parents will be required to park their vehicle and report to the front office to sign in your child. You will be required to bring in your ID to scan it through Raptor to record the tardy.
PM Carline Reminder:
For the safety of everyone involved and to prevent traffic congestion that can lead to accidents, we kindly request that you do not park your vehicles on Military Trail or Miner Road during dismissal times.
We understand that waiting can sometimes be inconvenient, but we encourage you to plan your arrival between 2:15 and 2:30 PM. This will not only reduce your wait time but also contribute to a safer and more organized dismissal process.
Please be aware that the Palm Beach County Sheriff's Office (PBSO) has informed us that they will be issuing fines to individuals who park on Military Trail and Miner Road. We want to avoid any unnecessary fines and, more importantly, prioritize the safety of our school community.
Your cooperation in following these parking guidelines is greatly appreciated, as it ensures the well-being of all our students and families. Together, we can create a safer and more efficient dismissal experience.
November IB Learner Profile Attribute of the Month: Balanced
Program of Inquiry (POI)
The Program of Inquiry (POI) serves as a framework for the curriculum and illustrates the major concepts that students will be inquiring. It is made up of six units per grade level that help students gain an understanding of themselves and the world around them.
Our teachers collaboratively develop a programme of inquiry that reflects the unique aspects of our school’s community. The programme of inquiry is organized and framed by six transdisciplinary themes: Who we are, Where we are in place and time, How we express ourselves, How the world works, How we organize ourselves, and Sharing the planet.
Throughout the POI students and teachers engage with:
the programme of inquiry—the structure that articulates what, when and how learners explore the transdisciplinary themes,
concepts that have relevance across, between and beyond the subjects and that connect knowledge to enable learners to build conceptual understandings,
the approaches to learning and approaches to teaching both crucial for developing inquiring minds and the skills needed to explore concepts and subject knowledge,
reflection and taking action to enhance individual and collective understanding and learning or to address personal, local and/or global challenges and opportunities.

Important Reminder: Uniform Policy Adherence
We would like to take a moment to remind everyone about the importance of adhering to our school's uniform policy.
Our uniform policy plays a crucial role in maintaining a focused and disciplined learning environment, and it helps instill a sense of unity and pride among our students. To ensure that these objectives are met, we kindly request your cooperation in ensuring that your child is in proper uniform when attending school.
We are now enforcing the uniform policy, and students found out of uniform will receive infractions. We believe this step is necessary to uphold the standards we have set for our school community.
We understand that there may be instances where items are on back order. In such cases, we kindly request that you send an email to Mrs. L'Etoile at letoile.alison@franklin-academy.org with either the iUniforms receipt for the items you've ordered or an email confirmation indicating that the items are on back order. This will help us keep track of any delays and ensure that students are not penalized for circumstances beyond their control.
Please remember that all uniform items must be purchased through iUniforms to maintain consistency in quality and design. http://www.iuniforms.com/
We greatly appreciate your support and understanding in this matter.
