RES Weekly Buzz

Happy Fall
As we enter our second month of school, we are very proud of how well the students have settled into their daily routines. The teachers and students have worked together to create structures to help them be successful throughout their day. As we spend more time in the classrooms, we are excited to see the hands-on learning experiences the kids have been participating in and the enthusiasm with which they approach each day. We are looking forward to seeing many more exciting lessons and engaged students throughout the following weeks.
Have an enjoyable long weekend, see you all Wednesday morning!

RES Lunch Groups
October 7, 2022
To Parents/Guardians of RES students,
To enhance positive social relationships among students at Rockport Elementary School, your child may have the opportunity to participate in a lunchtime social group throughout this school year. During this time, your student will interact with their peers in a small, structured group setting led by a RES staff member. Students will vary each week, and participation is entirely voluntary. The group's goals are to help children develop positive peer relationships and good problem-solving skills. Please discuss this with your child, and if you decide to opt out, complete all sections of this form.
PLEASE COMPLETE AND SUBMIT THIS FORM ONLY IF YOU WANT TO OPT YOUR CHILD OUT OF RES LUNCHTIME SOCIAL GROUPS!!!
If opting out multiple children, please use one form for each child.
Thank you in advance for your support.
Best,

MCAS 2022 RESULTS
The 2022 MCAS results were released to schools this past week and will be mailed home to families on Friday, October 14th. Please look for your child's score reports after that date and reach out to Jodi A. Goodhue, the MCAS Coordinator, if you have any questions or concerns about your child's progress.
District and school-specific scores will be analyzed by teachers and staff over the coming weeks. If your child requires additional assistance based on the results of their scores, students and families will be notified directly after the completion of the formal review.
Notes from the Nurse
- Please review the RPS COVID-19 Health and Safety Protocols for this upcoming school year: RPS COVID Protocols 2022-2023. The RES health office is no longer offering in-school rapid COVID testing for students. If your child is demonstrating any symptoms of COVID, they should do a rapid test at home and follow the protocol linked above.
Global Handwashing Day takes place next week. This is a great opportunity to review with your child(ren) the importance of washing their hands. Handwashing is the number one way to reduce the spread of germs and illness!! Practice the steps at home: wet, lather, scrub, scrub, scrub, rinse, and dry!
- Please remember to send your child with a water bottle EVERY DAY for school!
- Outdoor temperatures will fluctuate throughout the day. Wearing layers is recommended, since days may start cooler and then warm up.
- If you have any questions, please call the RES health office at 978-546-1223.
ATTENDANCE
RPS expects that students attend school daily. Students who attend school regularly have been shown to achieve at higher levels than students who do not have regular attendance. Consistent attendance strengthens academic progress as students are present to participate in interactive class activities and discussions. While there are legitimate reasons that may cause a student to miss school, frequent absences quickly add up to learning loss. We ask that parents and students attempt to limit the circumstances that result in absence from school.
