Learner-Centered Teaching and Learning: The certified school librarian is an educational leader who promotes the integration of curriculum, resources, and teaching strategies to ensure the success of all students as the effective creators and users of ideas and information, enabling them to become lifelong learners. Accordingly, the certified school librarian must be able to do the following activities with understanding and valuation of their importance:

(10) Citizenship. The student understands important symbols, customs, and responsibilities that represent American beliefs and principles and contribute to our national identity.
The student is expected to:
(A) identify the flags of the United States and Texas;
(B) recite the Pledge of Allegiance to the United States Flag and the Pledge to the Texas Flag;
(C) identify Constitution Day as a celebration of American freedom; and
(D) use voting as a method for group decision making.
