Cameron Ranch Falcon Connection
January 2024
Greetings Falcon Community,
Happy New Year!
As we turn the corner into the second half of our school year, we are eagerly gearing up for several campus events. This week, students will begin dance rehearsals for the big Star Struck Dance Show performance in February. All students practice grade level specific dances and will perform the evening of Tuesday, February 13th, so be sure to mark your calendars. Details will be sent home in the coming weeks. This event is always one of our favorite community gatherings of the school year.
Academic tutoring has also expanded, offering small group instruction either before or after school. Connect with your child's teacher if you'd like to learn more. Our Garden of Learning is ready to receive new plants for our newly built greenhouse and volunteers continue to providing grade-level specific science and environmental lessons (rain or shine) to foster a sense of wonder for all things in nature and to expand knowledge and appreciation of the life cycles through the seasons. In addition, our garden inspires artistic expression by providing opportunities for students to paint, create and design.
Last month we launched our new dismissal process in the lower parking lot and received a tremendous amount of appreciation for our efforts to streamline the process. Thank you for supporting the safety of our 400 students and staff members as we help everyone get home safely. Contractors have been surveying campus and reviewing plans to resurface the hardscape areas and the installation of core safety fence, along with an updated security system. Construction will begin in late spring. Safety procedures are regularly monitored and practiced to ensure our campus is able to respond quickly and appropriately to any potential incidents. If you notice anything that warrants our attention, please communicate with the front office by calling (916) 575-2302 and/or use this LINK to report a safety concern.
Our school-wide focus during February is how to be an On-Task Learner. Teachers will help students find ways make the most of their learning minutes each day and to thrive as students. We will come together as a school at the end of the month to celebrate on-task learning and build community.
January brings additional opportunities for students to discover more about their place in the world by exploring our hands-on library learning lab materials (image below) on Literature and Storytelling.
