Don't forget to send your child to school with a water bottle, either disposable or reusable. We do not have water fountains available at this time. Even though it is cool outside, the humidity is very low. The students need to drink through out the day to avoid becoming dehydrated.

Early check-out period will end at 2:40pm instead of 2:50pm. This change is necessary because the new program that is used in every school in Onslow County. It definitely is more secure, but does take a bit longer to process parent IDs. This change allows us to process check-outs and clear the loop before the Car Line pulls up.

Following careful consideration and review of OCS and state policies, the administration of Queens Creek Elementary (along with Sand Ridge El and Swansboro El) has determined the following protocols and restrictions for Valentine's Day this year:

• Students will be permitted to exchange paper valentines. These valentines MAY NOT CONTAIN ANY FOOD OR CANDY. There are no exceptions to this. Paper valentines my include stickers, pencils or like items.
• Students will not be permitted to give treat bags of any type to other students.
• All students will have a brown sandwich bag for their valentines to be placed in. The school will purchase these bags and have them to teachers the week prior, to allow time for students to decorate the bags.
• Bags should be placed on a table or counter and students will go one-at-a-time to put valentines in bags. This will help with social distancing guidelines.
• When they are finished, teacher or teacher assistant should staple the bag closed. The bag should go home in the students' bookbags, to be opened at parents' discretion.

If there are parents that wish to make food donations to the whole class for Valentine's Day, remember that ALL food items must be individually wrapped in original packaging and sealed in the original box.

Mrs. Taylor Galarneau (Mrs. G) is completing her student teaching this semester in Mrs. Barnes's first grade class. She attends Campbell University and looks forward to graduating in May!

Mrs. Ryan is asking for donations of corn starch for an experiment they are doing in STEM. If you are able, please send in a box this week and label it "For STEM".

Entry into the New Bridge Middle, Clyde Erwin Elementary, and Northwoods Elementary magnet school lottery is available to the enrollment-eligible children of all Onslow County residents or in accordance with the Interstate Compact on Educational Opportunity for Military Children.

Below you will find two resources. The first is a link to a PowerPoint presentation. It is a requirement that we share this information with the parents. The second is a link to a survey that allows us to document that we have shared the Title 1 information with you and allow you to give us feedback on how we are doing. Please take a moment and share with us.

It is very important that car rider parents to not entered the shared campus of Swansboro High School and Queens Creek Elementary School before 2:45. Our line quickly backs up and begins to interfere with High School dismissal. Because of this, cars that arrive prior to 2:45 will be asked to leave campus and return after 2:45. Thank you for your understanding.

In accordance to NC Department of Health and Human Services, OCS has updated the daily screening questions to include members of the household. If your child's situation warrants an affirmative response to any of these questions, the staff of QCE are required to follow the plan outlined in the Flow Chart below.

Good afternoon! Great news! Breakfast and lunch will be free for students through the rest of the year! What a relief for so many families during such a difficult time. The last thing families should worry about is having the funds to feed their children.

Parents, you can now pay all fees online. Please click the button below to set up your account. It is fast and secure.

Car Rider Parents, Please continue to display the yellow window card until your child enters your car. The best place to display the yellow card is over the passenger side visor. This will assist the staff to quickly load the students into the cars safely.

All afternoon transportation changes will happen within the School Dismissal Manager system. This eliminates the need for notes that don't always reach the teachers or emails to the front office that might not be seen until after dismissal. All changes need to happen before 2:00pm. At 2:15pm each teacher is sent an email with a list of all his/her students and how each one is getting home.

The QCE Kindergarten Team is collecting dried up markers to donate to Crayola as part of the Crayola ColorCycle program. Crayola repurposes old markers and converts them into energy and wax compounds, recycling every part of the marker no matter the assembly or type of plastic. The markers do not have to be Crayola brand, the program accepts any and all markers. If you or your students have any markers that dry up, instead of throwing them away, please consider donating them to a kindergarten teacher to contribute to the ColorCycle program. Students may deposit the old markers in the ColorCycle bucket by the cafeteria. Thank you!
