OCTOBER NEWSLETTER
MAGRATH HIGH SCHOOL
We are thankful to be in school.
Thanksgiving weekend came and went; the leaves changed color and the snow flew. We are happy to say that our students have adjusted well to wearing masks and to following healthy protocols. We are still having to get after a few to wear a mask and have been providing them for free in the office.
Our Learning Support Team has been providing hot lunches on Mondays and Tuesdays. The home economics team has been providing hot lunches on Wednesdays and Thursdays. Our menus change weekly and pre orders can be accessed off our Magrath High School website under the heading Lunch Orders or at school via the picture code posted on the wall. We are asking that students pre order by 11am each day. Also, if a student pre orders for either Monday and Tuesday, or Wednesday and Thursday, their names will be placed in a hat for a draw for a free lunch of their choice the next week. The menus are posted at least a week in advance and provide some great choices for our students.

Breakfast on Halloween
Later Friday evening the weather was perfect for a spooky walk at the pond. The high school students took over the fish pond for a spooktacular event. A haunted walk and concession were held to raise money for our student council.
Principals Message
October was a great month, filled with many exciting and engaging learning opportunities and
activities for our students. November looks to be just the same.
I would like to take the time in this message to publicly thank all those who help us keep MHS such a thriving, exciting, and safe place to come to each day. With the ever-present shadow ofCOVID-19 lurking on the horizon, we could easily just “pack up the shop” and tell students to come to school, sit in their desk, wear their mask, and not have any interactions outside of that bubble.
But…. we know that is not in the best interest of anyone, so we surge ahead, stepping up to the line of what AHS guidelines will allow us to do, as we continue to keep our school culture alive and thriving.
To this end, I want to thank all the students, parents, teachers, EAs, administrative assistants,
and custodial staff for their tireless effort to keep things fresh, light, encouraging, and safe.
Classrooms are filled with collaboration, creative thinking, problem solving, and smiles. Our
student council is active and aware of what their peers need, and have offered draws to extra-
curricular activities, contests, and outside Halloween activities.
Even though we live in what seems to be a media driven frenzy, we will continue to do what we feel is best for our educational community, based on our rural cultural values and
understandings.
Thanks for your support and help as we maneuver forward. Please contact me if you have any questions.
