Bernshausen Community Buzz
November 1, 2023
Welcome to November, Bengals!
October was a GREAT month for our students, staff and community! This past month students in grades 3-5 participated in their first QSE (District Assessment) in the areas of Math, Reading, and Science. Students are tracking their data and owning their learning as they work with their teachers on participating in their personalized pathways.
Bengals also had a FUN time at our annual Boo Fest on October 27th! Shout-out to our Amazing PTO as they prepared a Fabulous Family event for our Community. Read below on ways you can support our PTO!
Bernshausen is receiving a "10-Year Facelift!" That's right Bernshausen Elementary opened in 2013-2014 and we are officially 10 years old! As a result, we are painting the main hallways and sprucing things up a bit!
Be on the lookout for information on:
- Spirit Night
- Veteran's Day Program
- Dress-up Days
- and more!
Looking forward to a GREAT month!

Morning Drop-Off Reminders-Ms. Mielitz
A couple of reminders for morning drop-off procedures.
- Staff members will begin arrival procedures at 7:40 a.m.
- Students eating breakfast should arrive by 7:45 a.m. Students need time to get to the cafeteria, purchase, and eat breakfast. The breakfast line closes at 8:05 and the tardy bell rings at 8:10.
- Students arriving by car at or after 8:10 a.m. are considered tardy. Parents should park and walk their child(ren) into the building. Please remember to have your ID ready to present at the door.
Attendance Counts Everyday!-Ms. Madrid
This year one of our goals is to make sure students are at school every day. We know that there is a direct correlation between a student's attendance and their academic achievement.
The more consistently students attend school, the more opportunities they have to learn. Last year at this time our attendance rate was 94%. Currently, we are sitting at 95.27%. That is a celebration!
Our goal is to reach and stay at 96% of students attending school everyday. Even if your child has an appointment, we would love for them to come to school as much as they can on that day.
The tardy bell rings at 8:10 A.M. and instruction starts right away. If your child is tardy everyday, they are missing instruction in the same subject daily. This can cause academic gaps for students which may cause them to become overwhelmed and not want to come to school.
Together, we can make sure that all Bengals succeed!
