Today our CPS soon-to-be graduates who attended Byam School visited today and walked through our hallways to applause! Congrats to all of our Chelmsford Public School 2022 future graduates!

Thank you to Mrs. Katie Rey for all her time, hard work, dedication to preparing, planning, and rehearsing with our Grades 2-4 Byam students for our Byam school play "We Are Monsters". Below is a snippet of the great show.

On behalf of our entire Byam Staff, we would like to thank everyone for the delicious lunch meal provided by our BSA and our parents for Staff Appreciation this past Wednesday. Everything was delicious! Thank you also to our parents who set up the tables and decorations, and help clean up afterwords. Everything was wonderful and scrumptious, thank you!

If medication is kept at school for your child, please be advised that the end-of-year Medication Pick Up will be on the last day of school between 8:00-11:30am and then between 1:00-4:30pm.

There is NO pick up of medication during dismissal. Medication not picked up by 4:30pm will be disposed of per district protocol.

Please contact Nurse Regan at regana@chelmsford.k12.ma.us if you need to make other arrangements.

Last Friday, May 27 was the last day students were able to check out Library books. All books should be returned by Monday, June 6, after which date I will begin contacting parents of students who still have outstanding items. If children have books to return, they may bring them to the library any morning (not just on their Library day). If a book is lost or damaged, money to replace the book can be sent by check or through PayPal https://www.paypal.com/donate/?hosted_button_id=4GLBCA4JAZ8LJ to the BSA. We are so glad we are able to have some of our traditional year celebration activities:

Kindergarten Celebration: Families will enjoy some of our kindergarten classics with musical performances by our students.

Grade 1 Books and Blankets/Three Billy Goats Gruff: Enjoy a good book with your family and see our 1st grade rendition of the classic folk tale Three Billy Goats Gruff.

Middle School Visit: Our 4th graders will have a chance to visit their respective middle schools and hear all about 5th grade.

4th Grade Celebration: Byam will send our 4th graders out in style with a wonderful celebration to acknowledge their time in elementary school.

Grades 1-4 Students had so much fun during field day this week! Thank you to Ms. Quinn for organizing such a spectacular event, and thank you to all the parent volunteers who made the day a huge success! Kindergarten field day will be rescheduled due to inclement weather today.

*Please check with your child's teacher for specific dates about grade level events, performances, and celebrations! We have a lot happening at Byam in the month of June!

A printed food/snack permission slip was sent home with your child this week. Please send back your completed and signed permission slip to your child's teacher, to allow your 4th graders to eat the food we're providing for snack and/or lunch!

• 4th Grade Celebration will take place during school on Friday, June 10th.
• All parents are invited to have lunch with their child from 1:05 to 1:50pm. Lunch will be provided for 4th graders only, parents/guardians will need to bring their own lunch. (Please return the signed food permission slip by Monday June 6th).
• Please note that there will be NO parking available on-site at Byam. Participants are invited to park at Chelmsford Swim and Tennis Club, located at 133 Robin Hill Road, and use the rail trail to walk to Byam.
• Please send your child to school with a labeled and reusable water bottle.
• Please have your child wear sneakers and comfortable clothing.
• Students will receive their celebration t-shirt that day at school. It is recommended that girls wear a tank top under their regular shirts, so that they are comfortable changing in their classroom.
• Students will receive their yearbook during the celebration.
• Most activities are happening outside. Please make sure to apply sunscreen prior to coming to school.

Congratulations to our 4th grade tour guides for bringing us on a journey through the 50 states during their States Festival on Wednesday June 1st. Did you visit Delaware or Mississippi, Hawaii or Alaska? No matter where you traveled, the costumes, posters, and brochures were impressive! The event culminated in a grade-wide song of the state capitals!! Ask your 4th grader to sing the song and be prepared to be amazed! Thank you to our fourth grade teachers!

The BSA organized a Teacher Appreciation luncheon and special treats this week! There was huge lunch buffet for all teachers and staff on Wednesday June 1st, along with a delicious "Make Your Own Trail Mix" on Thursday June 2nd! Thank you to all the volunteers who setup, cooked and brought in food, decorated, and cleaned up for the event!
