First day of school on campus
We are so excited to welcome families on campus to walk their students to their classroom doors on the first day of school only. We are a closed campus, but we want to make sure you can help your child get to their classroom and take some pictures. We ask that you exit the campus by 8:45.
The school parking lot will be for staff only parking. You may park at the park, or any designated areas around the campus. Please make sure to leave your house early as the first day is very busy with lots of traffic. We appreciate your understanding.
School Site Council Members Needed
We are looking for one parent to join the School Site Council to fill roles vacated on our School Site Council. The School Site Council is an elected group made up of parents, teachers, staff and the principal. The School Site Council monitors school programs, activities and instructional practices that support the core curriculum. The council also develops a school plan for using supplemental resources that address the academic needs of students with the goal of improving student academic success. We meet about 6 times per year to discuss the happenings of the school, review student achievement data, and also approve expenditures. If you are interested in being on the School Site Council, please email Amy Johnson at amy.johnson@cnusd.k12.ca.us by August 17th. Your name will be included on the ballot which will go out the week of August 18th in this newsletter.
Inclement Weather Protocols
We wanted to make sure you were aware of our Inclement Weather Schedule and Procedures. We will offer an optional cool room when the weather is above 95 degrees. We will call inclement weather schedule when the temperature is 98 degrees or higher and do not allow children to play on the playground. They will have indoor recess. We also consider air quality factors as well. We typically can play for the morning recess, but lunch time recess and afternoon recess will move indoors. I have attached a link below to the district inclement weather procedures.
Arrival
Students need to be through the gate by 8:45 in order to be on time for school. Traffic builds up quickly, so please plan accordingly.
Please help us with a smooth arrival by pulling all the way to the top of the circle. This helps us unload many students at one time. Please make sure to stay in your car at all times. If you need to help your child get out of the car, please park in order to help the circle continue to flow.
The bus circle (the circle with the flag pole), is for busses only.
We appreciate your help and support to ensure a safe and quick drop off.

Playground Fence Before School
We need your help to keep our students safe on campus. We have had a lot of family members congregating at the fence by the playground before school and talking to students and handing them items. Please do not talk to students on the playground while you are at the fence. We know you may be the parent, but the supervisors on the playground do not know that, and we want our students to be safe. If you forgot to give your child an item, please drop it off in the office for them to pick up. We appreciate your understanding of this.

Broken Devices
It is important to know that all CNUSD issued devices (i.e. laptops) are the student's responsibility. We are speaking to our students about how to take care of their devices and ask that families do the same at home. If a student has a device that has been damaged, the fine to replace the laptop is $200.00.
If you have any questions regarding devices or technology, please visit the CNUSD website for information and assistance. Click HERE to visit the page.
The page states the following regarding damaged laptops:
"The parent/guardian is responsible for any damages or costs incurred as a result of the student’s use and possession of the device. As outlined in board policy BP8500, the Board of Education intends that technology resources provided by the District be used in a safe, responsible, and proper manner in support of instructional programs for the advancement of student learning."
