GCPS Website Orientation

The GCPS District website has a new look! The new and improved website has a cleaner design, and prioritizes the most frequently used content from the old site. We know that the new website will take some time to get used to, so we put together "GCPS: Get to Know Our New Site". This will give you pointers on how to navigate the new site, and point you in the direction of our most viewed pages.

First, clear your browser's history/cache for the best experience with the new website.

1. The Gallery. A rotating section with news, opportunities, and celebrations.
2. The Main Menu (the "hamburger" icon). All the items that previously displayed horizontally across the top are in this menu. There's more information about this collapsed menu below.
3. The Search Bar. An enhanced search function will help users find what they're looking for quickly.
4. Portal Links. The student, parent, and staff portals you recognize, along with the "Translate" area.
5. Quick Links. These icons represent the most frequently visited pages on the website.
   
   

*Helpful hint: The GCPS logo in the top-right corner of the site returns the user to the homepage.

Scroll past the calendar section to find News, Highlights, Blueprint for the Future updates, and additional contact information.

You'll find the main menu for the GCPS website here.

At the top of any interior page you will see links to all the other pages in that section of the website. There is also a "breadcrumb" line above the page title that shows the path to the page, and the three-line Main Menu ("hamburger" icon) at the top right.

You can find the accessibility options button (the little person in the blue circle) at the bottom right of the web page window. When you click this icon, you'll get a popup window that enables you to adjust text size, contrast, font choice, and a range of other features that will make the site work best for you.
