Hard Lock Down Drill
On Monday, September 18, we will conduct a comprehensive lockdown drill at 10:00 AM. This exercise simulates the protocols we would follow in the event of a serious, immediate threat within our school premises. Please be aware that this is a practice drill designed to enhance our preparedness.
In line with safety procedures, no one will be permitted to enter or exit the building during the lockdown until we receive official clearance. Our School Resource Officers will be present on campus to supervise the drill. We anticipate resuming regular student check-ins and check-outs by approximately 10:20 a.m. Thank you for your cooperation and commitment to maintaining a safe learning environment.
Picture Day
Picture day is here! CADY will be at Seckinger on Monday, September 18, to take photos for the yearbook. Be included in the yearbook. Purchase a package before your picture Day and get $10 off. Take advantage of this limited-time offer. You can check out your options at CADY. The dress code will be strictly enforced.
Hispanic Heritage Month
Each year, Americans observe National Hispanic Heritage Month from September 15 to October 15, by celebrating the histories, cultures, and contributions of American citizens whose ancestors came from Spain, Mexico, the Caribbean, Central, and South America.
The observation started in 1968 as Hispanic Heritage Week under President Lyndon Johnson and was expanded by President Ronald Reagan in 1988 to cover 30 days, beginning on September 15 and ending on October 15. It was enacted into law on August 17, 1988. September 15 is significant because it is the anniversary of independence for the Latin American countries of Costa Rica, El Salvador, Guatemala, Honduras, and Nicaragua. In addition, Mexico and Chile celebrate their independence days on September 16 and September 18, respectively.
Constitution Day
Students in Civics classes will delve into the principles of Separation of Powers as detailed in Articles I, II, and III of the U.S. Constitution. They will also explore the system of checks and balances that exists among the various branches of government. Additionally, students will discuss the necessity of compromise in the process of ratifying the Constitution.
