Trade School Scholarship
Gavin Putman Memorial Scholarship In memory of Gavin Putnam a scholarship for those pursuing a career in skilled trades will be awarded to a Jackson County Senior. Gavin was a hands-on learner, the classroom was not his favorite place. Fixing, building, and working with his hands was where Gavin excelled. This is an opportunity help pay for trade school, tools, or training classes in your field. BIG CHUCK’S SCHOLARSHIP (up to $2000)
BIG CHUCK’S SCHOLARSHIP (up to $2000)
A scholarship sponsored by Big Chuck’s Pizza Plus of Munith.
Criteria: Open to all graduating seniors (with a GPA of 2.3 or higher) who plan to further their
education through college, vocational or technical school. This scholarship will also be open to
those candidates that are looking to become an entrepreneur. A business plan must be included
with those that are planning on starting a business.
Selection Process: Recipients are screened by representatives of Big Chuck’s Pizza Plus from a pool of
applicants. Up to 4 students are scheduled for an interview. This scholarship will be offered to seniors in
other surrounding school districts. Candidates for this scholarship must complete an additional
handout with the essay requirement and other required documents if necessary.
Lansing Community College Opportunities
Technical Careers has a variety of events coming up this spring. This is the last week that students can attend a mandatory Lineworker Info Session. Tech Forward registration is now open and I added one more event to the list, Fire Academy Showcase. Let me know if you have any questions.

- An event for high school age young women and older to learn about opportunities in Technical Careers
- Includes keynote speaker, panel discussion, hands-on tours and lunch
Drone Day – Saturday, April 26th, 10:00am-3:00pm REGISTRATION COMING SOON
- This is an all-age community event where attendees will learn about the different careers/industries using drones and well as requirements for recreational use.
- The morning includes a light breakfast with informational sessions and the afternoon includes a light lunch with plenty of drone flying time!

NEW OPPORTUNITY! Henry Ford Jackson Hospital Student Career Exploration Program
Applications are open for the next Henry Ford Jackson Hospital Student Career Exploration program to take place the week of December 16 to 20! Successful applicants will spend the week at Henry Ford Jackson Hospital-these will be excused as School Activity Days! This is open to students grade 9-12 who have identified a Health Science career as an interest in their Xello EDP (make sure you have "liked" a career in the Healthcare field in Xello).
