Dear Henry Families,

We want to thank each and everyone of you for your continued hard work, patience, and perseverance during this last month of remote learning. We recognize how hard families are working to help students continue to learn and grow. We appreciate all of you as we continue this journey together.

Progress Reports will be finalized by teachers this Wednesday October 7th and we are asking for your assistance. Paper copies of the progress reports are being mailed by CPS' central office. As we found out last year, there is a 1-3 week(s) delay in receiving the paper copy of the progress report in the mail. The good news is that you can access the same information by checking your student's Aspen Account and the Aspen Parent Portal!

As teachers prepare to finalize progress reports, we are asking that families check Aspen Parent Portal and take time to complete and submit any missing assignments. Moving into week 5 of instruction, we are noting many students with missing assignments, resulting in many overall grades of D or F. Please know that per CPS policy, teachers need to enter grades for assignments and assessments in the same manner they do during the normal school year. It is critical that students take time to submit all work so that grades are as accurate as possible.

Thank you to those parents who attended our Coffee with the Principal and our Bilingual Advisory Committee meeting last week. This week we will have our Virtual LSC Forum on Thursday, October 8th at 5:00 p.m. This is an opportunity for you to meet the candidates for LSC. Here are some parent support opportunities:

We will be having a high school meeting for 8th grade parents next Tuesday, October 6th at 5:30pm. This meeting will explain how to set up an account, the different high school programs, and the eligibility requirements for each program. There is also a virtual workshop for parents about raising resilient children next Tuesday, October 6th, at 6pm in English and Tuesday, October 13th at 6pm in Spanish through the Streamwood Behavioral Hospital. This workshop will teach parents how to help their children manage their feelings so they can be resilient when facing problems in their future. The flyers are posted below.
