Today, Michigan Department of Health and Human Services (MDHHS) announced that high school students and staff may return to in-person instruction on Monday, January 4.
We will welcome Wayland Union High School students back to school Monday, January 4 (Group A) and Tuesday, January 5 (Group B).
How will this updated epidemic order impact athletics?
Please watch for updates, on Facebook and Twitter, from Athletic Director, Mr. Matt Moffett, as we await news from the Michigan High School Athletic Association (MHSAA).
K-8 Instructional Schedule?
Students in grades K-8 will resume the Enhanced Hybrid schedule on Monday, January 4, 2021: Group A Mondays/Thursdays; Group B Tuesdays/Fridays; and All remote Wednesdays.
When will we change from an Enhanced Hybrid to Super Hybrid schedule?
We will continue following the Enhanced Hybrid Model until the Allegan County Health Department moves Wayland Union Schools into Risk Category C for three consecutive weeks. At the beginning of the fourth week (at Risk Category C), we will transition into the "Super Hybrid Model," which is a full return four days per week: Mondays, Tuesdays, Thursdays, and Fridays. Wednesdays will remain a virtual day.
In summary...
Hoping each of you have a wonderful break. It has been a unique start to our school year. We have been faced with situations which we never dreamed. We experienced many firsts... social distancing, wearing masks, and ever-changing press conferences. Yet, we continued (and continue) to take care of our students, each other, and ourselves. It is in caring, for ourselves and for each other, that we will see our way through this... even stronger than we were before. Our community has rallied together. Our school-related COVID-19 cases have decreased. Let us continue with personal responsibility persevering through this TOGETHER as Wayland UNION Schools.
Wishing you all the best during the holidays. Wishing you a winter break filled with all which brings you peace, comfort, and joy.
In partnership,
Dr. Christina Hinds

How Cognitive Distortions Undermine Well-Being
As 2020 comes to a close, please take a few minutes to review, "How Cognitive Distortions Undermine Well-Being." This article reminds us of the traps which move us farther away from wellness and importance of self-care. During this winter break, please take the time to rest and regroup. It has been a challenging year. Please take care of YOU and those closest to you.
