1st Week Back to School!
Back to School Success!
Thank you to everyone who attended Back to School Night on Monday!
It was a pleasure seeing everyone and it REALLY helped in the transition with the first day of school, as almost all of our students knew where to go and had already dropped off their supplies!
It was a huge success, and we appreciate everyone's support!
Health Forms for the Nurse!
Our School Nurse, Mrs. Tyner, is still in need of Health Forms for the 2023-2024 school year!
If your child has an allergen or needs medication throughout the day, please contact Mrs. Tyner at ktyner@jgsc.k12.in.us to update your child's health information!

Welcome our New Staff at WES!
Mrs. Stephanie Brown (Applied Skills)
Hello, WES!
I am Mrs. Brown and am teaching Applied Skills K-3 Special Ed. I have worked in Special Education for 12 years and I am thrilled to become part of the John Glenn Community.
Mrs. Brooke Patterson (1st Grade)
My name is Brooke Patterson, this will be my 11th year of teaching and I’m so excited to join the Walkerton family! My husband and I have been married almost 5 years and have a 2.5 year old named Decker, along with two dogs named Charlie and Henry.
Mrs. Beata Cole (2nd Grade)
I'm Beata Cole! I'm so excited to be joining Walkerton this year. I graduated from Valparaiso University in 2020 and loved living in Indiana, so I decided to move her. This will be my 3rd year in teaching. I love math and I love to read, so I love getting my students just as excited as I am about those two subjects.
Ms. Anna Willis (3rd Grade)
Hello, WES Family!
Mrs. Sarah Cuskaden (6th Grade)
Hi, WES!
My name is Sarah Cuskaden. I am so excited to be teaching 6th grade at Walkerton Elementary! My goal is to create a loving and positive learning environment that will provide many memorable experiences for all students. In my spare time I enjoy spending time with my family and traveling -especially to national parks.
Mr. Billy Harness (6th Grade)
I grew up in North Liberty and graduated from John Glenn in 2017. Then I went to Indiana Wesleyan University where I studied elementary education and played basketball. After graduating, I studied for a year at Holy Cross College where I earned a certificate in Teaching English as a New Language and played basketball as a graduate transfer. I spent the past year serving through Brethren Volunteer Service in Portland, Oregon, giving food and clothing to those in need at SnowCap Community Charities. I'm very excited to be back in the community teaching alongside the wonderful staff here at Walkerton.
Important Documents to Start the School Year!
Construction at WES!
You may have heard that WES is going to have some construction happening this year, and that is indeed correct!
WES is looking to improve various areas of our building, starting with new heating and cooling systems in our classrooms! Construction will not happen before the first day of school, but will happen throughout the upcoming school year.
But don't worry! Classrooms will be moved around so that there will be no students or staff in classrooms where work is being done.
JGSC is finalizing the construction bidding process, and once that happens, I will be able to provide more details on (1) when construction will start and (2) what rooms will be affected during certain times.
More details coming soon!

Dr. Fuller's Thoughts!
We did it WES! We successfully completed the first week of school!
As we continue to embark on this journey together, I can't help but feel my heart swell with pride. Throughout the past three days, but really the entire summer, the entire WES Staff has been working to gear up for this past week. Teachers, Office Staff, Custodial, Kitchen Staff, Technology, Aides...EVERYONE has been preparing Walkerton Elementary for the return of our students.
I am truly excited to take this journey with our students, parents, teachers, and staff. If we stick together and focus on what is most important, our children, we will have an amazing school year!
The first three days were a resounding success, proven by the hundreds of smiling, laughing students we had throughout Walkerton Elementary!
Enjoy the weekend WES Families, and we will see everyone Monday morning!
