Prayer
A Prayer for the Second Sunday of Lent
Thank you Lord God for the opportunity of worship
for the freedom to be amongst your family
meeting together in your house
and in the warmth of your embrace
Thank you that in worship we can put aside
the uncertainties of this world and rest
upon the certainties of the Kingdom
for your promises are not changeable
as those of a politician might be
but immovable and eternal
Thank you that we can bring to your feet
all the hurts and fears that trouble us
and leave them there
knowing that your strength and assurance
are all that we require
Thank you that as we draw near in worship
we are transported
from a world of concerns and fears
to a place where we can be at peace in your presence
find healing, wholeness and refreshment.
Thank you Lord God for the opportunity of worship
Amen.

From The Principal
Dear Parents/Guardians,
This Sunday's Gospel tells us of the transfiguration. Jesus is soon to enter Jerusalem to suffer and die. The disciples will be overwhelmed and grief-stricken. In anticipation of this tragedy, Peter, James, and John were given a special grace at the transfiguration, ecstatic as the "saw his glory". This grace would strengthen them through the dark days ahead.
We too can experience times where we think we just can't go on. There is too must stress, too much hardship, too much suffering. We just feel as if we can't handle it. But in the midst of those times, there are little signs of God's love all around us, little rays of light in our darkest moments. Let's not forget that God is always with us.
Rite of Enrollment
Our seventh graders will participate in the Rite of Enrollment for Confirmation this Sunday, February 21st at 9am Mass. We wish the students the best in taking this next step on their faith journeys.
Spring Pictures
Spring pictures will be taken next Wednesday. Information was sent home with your student last week. If you did not receive that information, please do not hesitate to contact the school office.
Enrollment 2016-17
We are in the midst of enrollment for next school year, and we do need your assistance if you are not returning. Please let Mrs. Cierra know now so that we can offer any available places to those families on the wait list.
Re-enrollment will begin March 1st and will conclude by March 15th. After March 15th, if families have not re-enrolled, those places will be given to students on the wait list. Therefore please complete the re-enrollment process as soon as it opens. We will be re-enrolling with our new school Information system, School Speak. You will notice some changes with the re-enrollment process especially when it comes to completing the activities for participation. There will be automatic cut offs for the various activities. So if there is an activity you wish to do, it is necessary to sign up as soon as possible.
Arrival and Dismissal Traffic
We would like to remind our parents, grandparents, and guardians to abide by the directions of the safety patrol and official rules of the road when dropping off and picking up students from the parking lot. The safety of all our students is always a priority. We would also hope that adults set an example of good manners and behavior during this time. Please do not use the clinic parking lot or the turn-around as your venue for arrival or dismissal.
Best Wishes and Safe Journey
Mr. Riener will return from Australia this weekend. Please continue to keep him and his mother in your prayers.
God Bless,
Karen Johanson
Vice Principal
Lenten Mass Attendance
The Missionary Childhood Association (MCA) follows the vision of its founder Bishop Forbin-Janson – “children helping children.” After learning about the great needs of the world’s poorest children, young people are invited to pray and to offer financial help so that children in the missions today may know Christ and experience His love and care.
Students are receiving a Lenten Mission Box today in which to save spare change that can be contributed to the MCA to help children around the world. We ask that students return the boxes to their homeroom teachers during the final week of classes before Easter break.
In the words of our Pope, we encourage parents, as the primary educators of their children, to promote this Lenten spirit of giving. “I encourage educators to cultivate in the little ones the missionary spirit, so that there may arise from among them witnesses of the of the tenderness of God and announcers of his love.” – Pope Francis, Solemnity of the Epiphany 2015
