St. Mary's Lions Letter
December 5, 2023
Dear St. Mary’s Family,
As we step into the season of Advent, I want to take a moment to reflect on the significance of this time of anticipation and preparation in our school community. Advent marks the beginning of the Church year; a period of hope, reflection, and joyful expectation. During Advent, we are invited to enter more frequently into silence, into prayer and reflection, into Scripture, and into the sacramental life of the Church — all to prepare for celebrating Christmas.
The next few weeks will be filled with activities and events that center around the themes of Advent, aiming to instill in our students the importance of empathy, gratitude and spreading joy to others. These endeavors will culminate with our "A King Is Born" Christmas Program next Wednesday, December 13th @ 6:00 PM.
May this Advent season be filled with moments of reflection and joy for your family. Wishing you and your loved ones a blessed and fulfilling Advent season!
STEPS FOR STUDENTS FUNDRAISER & INFORMATION ZOOM MEETING TOMORROW @ 6:00 PM
Many thanks for those of you who have raised more than $100.00! Your child should have received his/her Pajama Day and Magic Show ticket for Thursday, December 7th. It's not too late! You have until midnight tomorrow to raise $100.00 or more. Ms. Croft will hold a Steps for Students Information Session tomorrow @ 6:00 PM for those of you who would like more information on Steps For Students and/or how to register.
SPIRIT SHIRTS
If you ordered spirit shirts in September, we are sending home the new spirit shirts today. Some of the spirit shirts delivered in October for the field trip to the Oil Ranch were defective (artwork). Please check your child's backpack.
FEE DRESS WEEK
Just a reminder that you may buy a FEE DRESS PASS for your child for next week, December 11th-15th. See the order form in this newsletter.
Reading ADVENTure
Your child was given a folder last Friday with a reading calendar for the month of December (see flyer in this newsletter). This fun and engaging activity will help foster a love for reading in our children's lives. It is a fundamental skill that not only enhances academic performance but also cultivates imagination and critical thinking skills. Please encourage your child to complete the activity for each day!
