9th Grade Math
As we prepare for the new school year, the majority of our eighth-grade students have elected to attend their homeschool for their 9th-grade high school year. As a result of low College Prep enrollment in the 9th-grade math class, we are supporting the small group of remaining rising 9th graders in transitioning with their grade level to 9th grade at their home school. This will allow them to have a full schedule in their home school and will give them a transition year to get acclimated to all of the 9th-grade routines and activities in high school. Each high school principal will contact families to tailor students' schedules accordingly. Therefore, student progress will continue to be monitored by College Prep staff. Also, if students would like to return to College Prep in 10th grade for Mrs. Delacruz's honors courses in math for sophomores and juniors or to take classes at TCALC in engineering or in the health sciences, they will have the option to do so.
If you have any questions, please contact Mrs. King (aking@tps501.org) or Ms. Foster (kfoster@tps501.org)
Transportation
Student bus schedules will be available on Thursday, August 4, 2022. Parents may log in to Tyler for information on the pickup location and time. Parents also have the option of dropping their student off at TCALC after 7:30 am. Bus transportation will return students to their home schools when classes are over at TCALC. If you have any questions regarding bus transportation, please contact Mrs. King at aking@tps501.org.
Breakfast
Jacketing Ceremony
The College Prep annual jacketing ceremony will take place on September 21, 2022, 4:00 p.m at TCALC, 500 SW Tuffy Kellogg.
This is a solemn ceremony where parents will jacket their students in the same manner as doctors receiving their first physician's jacket. Parents and students will pledge support for their student as well as the college prep program.
Professional Attire
Each Wednesday, and on special occasions, students and staff dress in professional attire wearing a navy blue business jacket, khaki pants, white button down dress shirt, and tie.
We have jackets available for use or families can elect to purchase one for their child. Parents purchase the shirt, khaki pants, and tie.
We will begin wearing professional attire the Wednesday following the September 21 Jacketing Ceremony.
Please contact Mrs. King (aking@tps501.org) if there are any questions or concerns.
