Resolution for Extension of Current 5 Year Facilities Plan [FOR ACTION]
The board voted unanimously to request an extension to the current five-year local facilities plan. With the election of new Board members, the Board will need more time to review the plan as the current plan expires June 30, 2022.
Pillar 3-Building a Positive Culture and Climate [FOR DISCUSSION]
Dr. Lillie Huddleston, Associate Superintendent of Equity and Student Services, and Dianne Andree, Student Success Director, provided an overview of the third pillar of the District Improvement Plan, Building and Sustaining a Positive Culture and Climate. They introduced key initiatives associated with the pillar and provided an update of current progress toward goals and objectives.
Dr. Huddleston and Ms. Andree received comments and answered questions from board members.
Monitoring Report - Policy 1.2: Academics and Foundations [FOR DISCUSSION]
Dr. Fehrman shared E-Policy 1.2_Academic & Foundations Policy Monitoring Report with the Board. The policy was previously shared with the Board at the October 12, 2021 Board meeting. At the October 12, 2021 meeting, the initial interpretation was presented to the Board for discussion. Additional interpretations and edits were needed. Dr. Fehrman provided the edits/second interpretation to the Board for review and discussion.
Enrollment Report [FOR INFORMATION]
Ms. Heidi Whatley, Director of Research and Analytics, Anthony Colbert, Student Data Specialist, Dr. Kristy Beam, Assistant Superintendent, and Dr. Maggie Fehrman, Superintendent, provided an enrollment report to the Board. The informational report provided enrollment data based on the October Full Time Equivalent (FTE) Count. The data reflect students enrolled as of October 5, 2021. The number of students who attend the City Schools of Decatur is connected to the operations of the school district (Policy 4.1D).
Monthly Data Report [FOR INFORMATION]
The monthly data reports from principals are provided to support school improvement plans that take a systemic approach to improve student achievement and school quality. These reports will present a graphic summary of important school data to allow the Board easy access to important metrics that the school is measuring to determine how the district and the school are doing on meeting district and school goals. The reports will be updated monthly and posted on the Board of Education agenda to provide all stakeholders with up-to-date information on how the school is progressing in meeting its goals.
