Principal Report:
This week, teachers and staff worked hard to complete benchmark testing, only a few more classes to get to on Monday. This important assessment shows us all the growth our students have made in reading and math over the first semester of the school year! We are so proud of our students for working so hard to improve their reading and math skills over the last few months. Today marks the end of the first semester of school. Teachers will be working next week on report cards that will be accessible on Parent Portal. Please make sure you have access to your Parent Portal account to see this important information. Report cards will also be sent home after next week.
In the second semester, we want to encourage all families to have their students attend school as often as possible! Positive attendance is one of the largest indicators of student success. Please see the graphic below about when to keep your student home due to illness and when to send them to school:

I hope you all had a wonderful winter break and some extra days off with the snow storm! Since coming back from break we worked on team building. It was awesome to see the students work in their small teams to “cross the river” and not leave anyone behind! They came up with some great ideas especially when I made it harder for them to cross by taking away equipment. This week I introduced floor hockey in station play. The following weeks we will work on how to hold a hockey stick, handling, passing, and shooting! I hope you are staying warm during this cold weather!
