This newsletter is a weekly publication available every Wednesday to our Kilgour community. If you have information to share with our school community, including upcoming events and activities please email details to RC1 by 4pm on Mondays.

We are soooooo excited to be back together with our returning families and jumping for joy to welcome our new families! Kilgour is a community with an emphasis on UNITY. It takes what each and every student, family and staff brings to make us Kilgour. So, bring your best every day and let's have a Kilgour Strong school year!

PowerSchool is the computer system used by Cincinnati Public Schools to keep track of student information. It helps parents be an active part of their children's education and keep track of academic progress on a daily basis. We will also be using PowerSchool to communicate with you this school year. I know, I know. Communications at Kilgour may seem like A LOT right now. Or, you may feel like it's been radio silence. Either way, I'd like to offer some clarity. This year we're streamlining school-wide communications using PowerSchool. Hopefully you've followed the article above and are setup to get those communications and other details about your child's experience at Kilgour. Be sure your email is accurate in PowerSchool and you should be good to go.

Now what about Remind? Remind is the tool your child's teacher may use to communicate with you. These communications will be specific to your child's class and will keep you in contact with your child's teacher. Depending on your preferences, you may receive Remind messages via text or email. Again, Remind serves as a way for you to directly communicate with your child's classroom teacher.

OK, so here's the plot twist... you ready? Principal Cook-Frazier may also use Remind at the grade level for essential and/or emergency communication. For example, imagne that 5th grade students are on a field trip and the bus can't get them back to Kilgour when planned for dismissal. Rather than each teacher contacting parents, Principal Cook-Frazier would use the 5th grade level Remind to inform all parents of the situation and the expected arrival time. (Remember, that was just an example!) No 5th graders are on a field trip and they will all be dismissed on time today!

I am Tywanna Watson, the Resource Coordinator for Kilgour. My role this school year is to work with various partners to provide enrichment opportunities for our school community.
