THANKSGIVING HOLIDAY NO SCHOOL NOVERMBER 22, 23&24
A Note from the Principal
Dear SHS Parents and Guardians,
It was a fun-filled week here at Sacred heart school beginning with last Friday’s Trunk or Treat. Thank you to PTA Chairperson Mrs. Bader, and everyone who helped to organize and participate in this spooktacular event. My first Halloween at Sacred Heart School was amazing! The excitement was palpable. Our students looked spectacular in their costumes and had a blast at their classroom parties. A big thank you to our faculty and staff for dressing up and the great pumpkin context was a hit. (see below for the winners) Thank you also to Father John and the Parish Staff for welcoming us into the Parish House for some early trick or treating. Our week ended with Parent Teacher Conferences. Thank you parents for taking an active role in your child’s education and for partnering with us for their success.
Many Blessings,
Mrs. Joanna Barlow
Principal
1ST FRIDAY MASS AND VIRTUES IN PRACTICE
November’s virtue of the month is Humility; accepting your limitations and God-given talents. The Virtues in Practice curriculum explains, humility is knowing the truth about yourself. A humble person rejoices in another's achievements because we know that every person's talents are a gift from God. Humility reminds us that all people are weak and no one is perfect. Even so, God loves us and uses our weakness to make us holy if we rely on His strength. Those students who exemplify Humility; will be honored at our December 1 First Friday Mass.
Our next First Friday Mass is Friday, November 10. Students are reminded to wear their "dress" uniform. This month our 7th grade class will be presenting. Mass is at 8:30 a.m. All parents/guardians, friends and relatives are invited to attend.
THANKSGIVING FOOD DRIVE
To support the St. Vincent de Paul Thanksgiving Basket Initiative, Sacred Heart School will be collecting food items to fill the baskets. Each grade is assigned an item:
Pre-K - canned cranberry sauce
Kindergarten - canned yams
1st grade - canned vegetables (corn, green beans, etc.)
2nd grade - canned gravy
3rd grade - boxed potatoes
4th grade - stuffing mix
5th grade - muffin mix
6th grade - brownie mix
7th grade - hot chocolate
8th grade - tea bags
Students are asked to bring their items to their homerooms beginning Monday, November 6th. The food drive will run through Friday, November 17th. Thank you in advance for helping to make someone’s Thanksgiving meal special.BOOK FAIR

We recently began uploading student art to their portfolio. We will be adding to each student's portfolio throughout the school year. If you do not see any artwork for your little Picasso do not worry, we are just finishing up additional projects in each class.
Please take a moment to scan the code on the flyer to access your child's artwork. If you love your little Rembrandt's piece; this site allows you to purchase it as keepsake. Full giftshop options including ornaments, shirts, mugs etc. Twenty percent (20%) of all proceeds will be donated back to Sacred Heart School!

ARRIVAL AND DISMISSAL TIMES:
Drop-off begins at 7:30am. Pick up for our K-8 program is at 2:30 and 2:15 if you child is in Pre-K 2:15.
CAR LINE TIPS ON ARRIVAL:
Form 2 lanes. The right lane is for grades K-8, the left lane is for our Pre-K students. Families with students in both PreK and K-8 should stay in the right lane.
When arriving you will be greeted by Father John and myself. Please wait your turn in the car lanes. Once in the drop off area, have your child exit the car. K-8 students will be dropped off in front of the main gym doors. Pre-K will circle around and be dropped off in front of the church. Our staff on duty will assist in making sure your children arrive safely to their classrooms.
Once you have dropped off your child/children please do not cut out of lane instead wait until the car in front of you moves to exit the campus. When exiting please be mindful that cars may turn in front of you to drop off at preschool or to exit the campus.
CAR LINE TIPS FOR PICK-UP
Form 2 lanes. In the interest of safety for your child/children and others:
Children will not be permitted to enter a car until the car is in front of the auditorium. Please pull all the way up to the "Drop off ends here" sign even if your child is standing in another place. If one of the car lanes is moving, children must wait until the cars stop moving before going to their car. If you must exit your car to buckle seat belts, we ask that you use the lane closest to the auditorium. Please pick up your child as quickly as possible, being mindful of the extremely long line behind you. We are discouraged from blocking Clifton Avenue.

Morning Care (6:30am-7:30am) and Extended Day Program (EDP) is available. If you are interested in either of these programs, please be sure to visit the website to get all the information you need. This is also where you can register your child for the programs.
