Kindness Rules at Nixon School 😊
Kindness Rules at Nixon School Bulletin Board
The Student Advisory Council has started the kindness initiative at our school.
Kindness Hearts
Each time a student posts a heart that tells about an act of kindness at home or at school, it gets posted on our bulletin board.
Nixon Green Bracelet Signifies the Act of Kindness
When a heart is posted the child receives a Nixon green bracelet that signifies their act of kindness. Student advisory council members have received their Nixon green bracelet today as they created this fun initiative!
Winter Recess Play and Weather
We love recess!
To have the best time at recess we follow some guidelines that help us to stay safe and dry when at play.
Temperature - If the "feels like" temperature is at or below 15 it is considered too cold to go outside.
Outdoor Clothing - Children should come to school with hats, gloves/mittens, warm coat, snow pants, and boots for play when there is snow on the ground. All children go outside for recess.
When a child has:
- Shoes other than boots, they can play on the blacktop
- Snow pants and boots, they can play on the blacktop, field, and playground area
- Snow pants and no boots, they can play on the blacktop
If children are in need of additional warm clothing, we will provide it to them so they can enjoy their time at recess. There is not an abundance of "extras", so sending in outdoor clothing from home is best.
SNOW DAYS/DELAYS
Winter weather is upon us! You can find information related to snow days and school delays in the Inclement Weather Procedures section of the SPS website. The most important thing to note is that our system will send a message to the phone number in Follett Aspen, so be certain your phone numbers are accurate in our Follett/Aspen Student Information System. Another important thing to know is that there is no Sudbury Extended Day in the morning if there is a school delay and none at all if school is canceled. Also, any snow days will be “real” snow days, not “remote learning days.”
