The 19-20 school year brings many new faces to Valerius. Here are some quick explanations regarding our staff changes.
New teachers to UCSD-- every year there are new teachers in all buildings due to natural attrition. Some years have more than others, but overall the rate of turnover at Valerius is the same as other schools around the district. We have two new teachers to Urbandale this year, Mrs. Nye and Mrs. Runyan.
Transfers-- When teachers leave due to a variety of circumstances positions are available to be filled through internal transfer to qualified candidates. This year we are welcoming a new kindergarten teacher, Ms. Martin, with 4 years of preschool experience and a new 4th grade teacher from UMS, Ms. Crosswait, who also has classroom experience. It's exciting that these fellow UCSD employees wanted to be a part of our great Valerius community.
Related arts teachers- With the closing of Olmsted there were changes in the positions for our PE, music, art, and library positions. These changes caused a shift in who was serving what building. Valerius will be served by a brand new, but highly experienced, related arts team this year. Welcome Mr. Larson, Mrs. Irvin, Ms. Baack, and Mrs. Marwedal.
