Announcements From the Prince(ipal's) Desk
On Tuesday 2/13 we celebrated Coach Neff with a lunch donated by Green Valley and our wonderful partners at Capones Pizza. HP staff members were treated to pizza, salad, sides, desserts and drinks thanks to our generous staff and the wonderful folks at Capones, who donated pizzas during this time of mourning.
SRO and Bus Driver Appreciation
Green Valley is blessed in so many ways. One of them is how we are served by the very best SRO and bus drivers you could ask for. This past week we celebrated and recognized them for all they do!
Thank you Officer Andrew, Mrs. Phillips, Mrs. Rash, Mrs. Combs, Mrs. Silvers (not pictured), Mrs. Miller, Mr. Weant, Mr. Bradshaw and Mr. Main! We couldn't do it without your love and care!
PTA Princess Dance
PreK
Pre-K had fun making their "100th day of school" monsters and snacks. We also enjoyed making our Valentine's bags for all of our Valentine's goodies.
Kindergarten

1st Grade
1st grade has had a fun filled couple of weeks! We exchanged Valentine’s made 100th day trail mix, and finished the 100th day of school with a 100 word challenge!
Mrs. Ledford's first graders have been working with understanding and comparing tens and ones over the last several weeks. We also started learning about maps! We are so happy to have had some full days of learning!
2nd Grade
We have had an exciting two weeks in second grade!
Last week, we celebrated 100 days of school!! The second graders had a blast doing 100 second challenges, flipping a coin 100 times, and writing about what our lives will be like when we’re 100 years old!
This week, we celebrated Valentine’s Day by making valentines for the people we love, playing minute to win it games, and exchanging valentines!
We also went to the Appalachian State Women’s Basketball game! We had a blast cheering on the mountaineers and dancing to the music!
3rd Grade
3rd grade worked on equivalent fractions
Lots of fun and celebratory things in third grade! We recognized academic and GOLD awards, got a visit from Goldie for having great attendance, and shared our planet presentations with some younger friends!
4th Grade
Fourth grade I&E group finished reading Harry Potter and used details from the books to make wands.
5th Grade
5th grade is showing what they have learned in their weather unit. They have been working on their final assignment this week. Recording weather forecasting videos.
7th Grade
Durring science class 7th and 8th grade students worked in groups to complete an escape room featuring several puzzles with cryptic solutions.
8th Grade JROTC Visit

Mrs. Reeves
Mrs. Reeves' class got to go visit local businesses - Charleston Forge, Bremco, Harris Teeter, Alray Tire, & Chick-Fil-A.
Art
In the Art room, 7th graders are creating faux stained glass that corresponds with the book they are reading in ELA. 4th and 5th graders are making masks out of plaster that are inspired by African mask designs.

Our Battle of the Books teams are gearing up for their competitions in March. Our elementary teams consist of 13 fourth and fifth graders and our middle school team has 6 seventh graders. See Mrs London if you’d like to learn more information about this program and join in on the fun for next year. Also, a huge thank you to Mrs Diehl, Ms Davis and Mrs Critcher for their help with after school practices this year!
PE
Music
The Green Valley Krewe (aka 6th Grade Band) celebrated Mardi Gras in grand fashion with an afternoon parade, replete with masks, music, and beads. Fun was had by all. Heureux!!!
