Students across the district welcomed and honored veterans on November 11 to say thank you on Veterans Day. The veterans shared stories of their time in the service and students sang to them and celebrated them. Students learned a lot and all veterans were honored. November 15 was School Board Members Day in Illinois. Thank you to the District 41 Board of Education!

Every winter District 41 schools face the possibility of school building closures due to inclement weather. In the event that schools need to close for the day, District 41 will communicate the weather-related closure to families and staff as early as possible. History came alive in 3rd grade classrooms at all four of our elementary schools this fall as volunteers from the Glen Ellyn Historical Society brought the students back in time with interactive, in-school presentations. As part of a social studies unit about "School Then vs. Now," the third graders explored similarities and differences in the lives of children growing up in the early days of Glen Ellyn's history with their own experiences. They also had an opportunity to interact with historical artifacts, meet with presenters in period costumes, and generate questions about daily life in the 1800's.

The Glenbard Bilingual Parent Advisory Council and Glenbard Parent Series (GPS): Navigating Healthy Families will present Fostering Motivation and Resilience to Achieve with psychologist Ferney Ramirez at 6 p.m. Thursday, Nov 17, at Glenbard East High School,1014 S Main St, Lombard. This program will be presented in Spanish only.
