Black History Month
This year in honor of Black History Month, Poway High is excited to celebrate Black History through the arts. On Monday, February 26, there will be live “Jazz on the Quad” featuring the PHS Jazz Band performing music by black artists at lunch. Student art and photography highlighting Black and Afro-Latinos will also be displayed in the main quad and the Library will offer interactive book displays for students.
English Learner Family Engagement Survey
Parents of English Learners- now through Friday, March 1, Poway Unified will be conducting our Family Engagement and Accountability survey to gather input from all families of English Learner students. This survey helps shape the District’s goals and guide priorities for the 2024-2025 school year. Your feedback is extremely helpful as we continue to seek ways to better our English Learner program. Please click HERE to complete the survey.
Trimester 2 Finals Schedule - February 28-March 1
Trimester 2 Finals will take place from February 28-March 1, 2024, with a modified bell schedule.
To provide the best testing environment for our students during final exams, we will not be distributing off-campus passes during classes. If your student must leave campus, we request a 24-hour advance notice. The off-campus pass number is 858-748-0245 x5113. This is a 24-hour number that is monitored during school hours. Remind your student that it is their responsibility to pick up the pass; we will not deliver passes to classrooms.
If you are requesting a same-day release, you must come to the PHS front office with your ID to check out your student. Students will only be permitted to check out between class periods or during lunch in order to minimize disruptions during finals. Please refer to the finals bell schedule attached to this message if you need an off-campus pass for your student. Your cooperation is appreciated.
First Day of Trimester 3 - March 4 Minimum Day
Trimester 3 begins on March 4. Poway High will have a minimum day bell schedule with a noon release time.
State Testing - March 25-April 1
Starting Monday, March 25 through Friday, April 5, our school will be operating on a modified bell schedule to accommodate mandatory state testing of our Junior and Senior classes. Although 9th and 10th graders are not testing, they will follow the same bell schedule. Start and end times will remain the same (8:35-3:45 M, T, Th, F, and 9:55-3:45 on W), but we will not have homeroom on Mondays and Fridays so the schedule is slightly different. Please see the CAASPP testing bell schedule. Thank you for your cooperation.
CLASS OF 2024 INFORMATION
FAFSA and CADAA Forms Now Open!
The new FAFSA (Federal Student Aid) and CADAA (CA Dream Act) forms are officially open! The good news is that (when the system is working) the student portion of the FAFSA is significantly shorter. The majority of students can submit their section without any issues, however, the new FAFSA puts a lot more responsibility on the parent to submit their part of the application separately. Due to this, non-profit organizations across San Diego County are gearing up and helping parents complete and submit their portion. They are offering a number of Cash for College Financial Aid Workshops in the next two months.
Jostens Cap and Gown and Graduation Item Orders

FOOD AND NUTRITION INFORMATION
School breakfast and school lunch are FREE for all enrolled students, every school day. Meals must still be entered into the cafeteria computer by individual student account.
Even though meals are free, families are still highly encouraged to complete the application for free and reduced-price meal eligibility. Eligibility status is still required for meal reimbursements, and school site funding depends in part on the number of students eligible for free/reduced-price meals. Families that qualify for free/reduced-price meals may qualify for other benefits, as well. The meal application is available online at MySchoolApps.com.
One-page, printer-friendly PDF menus are available on the PUSD Food and Nutrition webpage. At the top of the page, click or hover over School Menus + and then Printable PDF Menus.
