The Wizards Return to BASD - And We Can Already Feel Their IMPACT!
On January 20, 2024, the Harlem Wizards will return to BASD courtesy of the Foundation for Boyertown Education (FBE). These basketball magicians will tip-off against the Foundation All-Stars (BASD staff, students, and community members) in the BASH Bear Gym at 5 PM in what promises to be a fun-filled performance for all!
This is not the Wizards' first trip to BASD. The team has collaborated with FBE multiple times before, raising money that benefits students district-wide via the Foundation's grant program. As has happened in the past, two players visited our six elementary schools last week in order to raise awareness of and generate excitement for the upcoming event. Students and staff were treated to an amazing skills display, tricks, and laughter, while schools received tickets for families in need and more.
Their love for children and generous spirits were felt in every building, IMPACTing not only the adults who were there, but the children, as well. In one particular instance, a player honed in on a student, selecting the child to help with some of his tricks. Unbeknownst to the player, he was about to IMPACT a child who truly needed a boost and inspired a school to do the same for the child's mom. Thanks to the player's generosity, the student received a jersey and courtside ticket to the game - something that may not have been possible otherwise. The school, in turn, used Sunshine Funds, to purchase mom her own courtside ticket - making it possible for both of them to enjoy an afternoon together while creating magical memories. According to the building principal both mom and child are "over the moon!"
It's like that with the Foundation, too. They IMPACT our students every day by providing 'the extra.' Extra programs. Extra tools. Extra experiences. They expand horizons and add fresh perspectives.
Want to have your own IMPACT while enjoying family fun? Then join us for this FUNdraising event! All proceeds benefit the students of BASD! To get you tickets today, please visit the Foundation's website linked below or use the QR code in the flyer. This one can't be missed!
