Future Readiness
It was wonderful to hear from 10 MHS students at our School Board meeting on Tuesday night. The students, along with a few staff members, gave a presentation of their internship programs and an overall look at the objectives and strategies of our Career Pathways activities.
Through the internships, students are getting a great jumpstart into their careers and an amazing sneak peak at their future opportunities.

Accelerated Placement Act
Dear Parents and Guardians,
We want to share important news about the Accelerated Placement Act, also known as Public Act 100-0421, which affects your student’s education in Illinois public schools. The goal of this law is to provide all students with an equal chance to access advanced courses during high school This law is designed to make sure that high school students who perform exceptionally well on state standardized tests, including PSAT 9, PSAT 10, and the SAT are given the opportunity to take more challenging and advanced courses. Shout Outs!
Cultural Immersion Event
Our cultural immersion event was a great success! It was so meaningful to see our students engaging with each other in Spanish, trying each other's food, and sharing about their cultures and traditions. The students reported that they had fun, learned a lot, and were proud of themselves for speaking in Spanish with each other, and for doing a great job with all of the preparation that went into their research and making their food.
Here are some comments from our students:
Special thanks to all who made this event possible! We hope we can make it an MHS World Language tradition.

Coaches Corner - Cheerleading
Submitted by Coach Rosales
Cheer had their first competition, Jinglefest, this past Sunday at Barrington High School. The team has been working hard for a month on their routine. Working through adversities, they challenged themselves to hit skills that many have not executed before, and they came together to build a solid routine. This was a JV only competition that gave us a great opportunity to show our routine in front of a smaller audience, in a less stressful environment.
Leading up to our competition time, things were shaky during warm-ups and nerves were running high. We had one last team talk from Coach Rosales before being called to take the floor then it was finally our time to show everyone who we are! The competition was filled with many familiar schools with strong teams. There were 23 teams competing in our division of large JV and with that big of a group, they announced the top 10 teams. JV placed 8th! On top of that, we hit a 0, meaning our routine did not have any deductions! Both equally great accomplishments on their own. We’re so happy and excited to start our competition season off on a high note. We have such an amazing team of dedicated student athletes, we’re “on a mission to own this year!”
Wish us luck as we are quickly approaching our next competition at Stevenson.
Coaches Corner - Wrestling

These mustangs had an incredible weekend of wrestling! Our varsity team had some great matches down in Indiana, our freshman had 5 champions, and the girls team had a placer in the huge Waukegan tournament! Our champions from the freshman tournament include Arturo Vargas, Alvaro Guadarrama, Sladen Poutre, Eli Murray, and Andres Ramierz Randals. Our girl placer is Khloe Heerdegen who took 4th out of 27!
Great weekend to be a Mustang!
