Veterans’ Day Message Shared with Students Today
Friday, we will celebrate Veterans’ Day. As we think about Veterans’ Day, we give RESPECT as we honor the men and women who have sacrificed so much so that we can maintain our freedoms and all of the things we do each and every day.
The military veterans of the past and present have sacrificed so that we may all enjoy a democracy like no other. Veterans will continue to sacrifice into the future.
Here at BHS, we would also like to recognize and thank our very own Brighton High School Staff who are Military Veterans:
- Rich Sidoti one of our Security Guards
Served in the Army from 1961-1963
- Mr. Harvey Westbrooks, Security Guard
Served in the Army from 1984-1988
- Mr. Nick Smith, Security Guard
Served in the Army Reserve, Army National Guard, and Active Duty for a combined 23 years.
- ·Ms. Teresa Mosher, Director of Safety and Security
Served in the Army from 1995-2003
PLEASE don’t forget to thank a veteran!

- Students should get in and get out. Period.
- Nicotine Vape use/possession will result in Saturday detentions, ISS, and treatment programs for nicotine addiction.

We have stepped up our cleaning schedule throughout the day and have increased security monitoring of all bathrooms at BHS. We have heard you and we need your help to make all of our bathrooms clean, safe, and welcoming.
Be well,
T. Hall
Diwali Day
Diwali is a “festival of lights” that celebrates the triumph of light over dark and good over evil, and the blessings of victory, freedom, and enlightenment. The name comes from Sanksrit dipavali, meaning “row of lights.” On the night of Diwali, celebrants light dozens of candles and clay lamps (called diyas), placing them throughout their homes and in the streets to light up the dark night. Diwali is primarily celebrated by followers of the Hindu, Sikh, and Jain faiths. Though technically religious, it's also become a cultural event in North America celebrated with sweets and special foods. This year Diwali Day will be celebrated on Sunday, November 12, 2023.
Learn more about Diwali by watching a video from National Geographic and by checking out some picture books shared by PBS!

Current COVID Guidelines
The CDC recommends that people who have symptoms of respiratory or gastrointestinal infections, such as cough, fever, sore throat, vomiting, or diarrhea, should stay home. Testing is recommended for people with symptoms of COVID-19 as soon as possible after symptoms begin.
- If people test positive for COVID-19, they should stay home for at least 5 days and isolate.
- Isolation may end after Day 5 IF people are fever-free for 24-hours without fever-reducing medication AND their symptoms are improving.
- Day 0 being day of symptom onset or positive test.
- If symptoms are NOT improving, the CDC recommends that the person continue to isolate until symptoms improve and they are fever-free for 24-hours without fever-reducing medication.
- After the person has ended isolation and when symptoms have improved, the CDC recommends that people wear a well-fitting, high-quality mask through Day 10, OR until two rapid tests, taken 48-hours apart, are both negative.
