Mill Creek Magic Messages
News and Updates from Mr. Croyle and Mr. Murtha 1/5/2024
From Mr. Croyle and Mr. Murtha
We have some impressive students here at Mill Creek! It can be tough to come back to school from a significant amount of time off, but you would not have recognized any of that difficulty with our student body, as they returned from Winter Break with smiles and excitement! While we were all glad to have some time to spend with our own respective families during the break, it was nice to have our "Mill Creek Family" back together this week!
As we returned from the Holiday break, one of our frequent (and most welcome) visitors came to see us this past week. Our favorite Mill Creek canine reader, Atticus, from Roxy Readers, visited a number of classrooms, including Ms. Binckley's 2nd Grade class (see photos below). During Atticus' visit, many of our students had the opportunity to read to him, which is one of their... and his... favorite activities! Thank you, Atticus, for helping to instill a love of reading in our students. Also, many thanks to Atticus' handler, Mr. Wargo, for the important part he plays in this learning opportunity for our students.
Finally, please see the message and flyer a little further down about our upcoming MLK Day Souper Bowl event.
Have a wonderful first weekend of 2024, Mill Creek!

MLK Day Souper Bowl!
For the past several years, Mill Creek has had a community service project where families within our own community make soup for people in need…our annual Souper Bowl event is back! Retired teacher, Mr. Molenari, has once again assisted with this special project and has asked us to share the following information:
- Soup can be brought to MCE on Dr. Martin Luther King Jr Day, Monday, January 15, between 3:00PM-5:00PM.
- Soup may be frozen or fresh, but please no cans or bottles.
- Soup will be distributed to the Barclay Farmers Market and Caring Friends.
- Soup should be in 16oz or 32oz containers and labeled with contents, date, and food allergies (nuts, shellfish, gluten, etc)
- If interested, containers with lids and labels are available for your use. They can be found in the school main entrance area starting on Wednesday, January 3rd. Students may pick up containers during morning arrival from 8:15AM-8:35AM. If this time isn’t convenient, they may ask their teacher to pick up a container at a different time.
Also, thanks to 6th Grade Student, Vishwa B., for creating the wonderful flyer for this event directly below!
