FEED THE MONSTER! CANDY DONATIONS NEEDED!
The CANDY MONSTER is hanging out just inside the front doors waiting for your CANDY DONATIONS! Send in a bag (or more!) of candy or fun non-candy items and help us feed this hungry beast!
Did you know that it takes about 21,000 pieces of candy or items to have a successful Trunk or Treat?!? Last year we had over 700 children come to the event. With 30 trunks, giving one piece of candy at each trunk, that is at least 21,000 pieces of candy needed. WOW!
We currently have about 10,000 pieces of candy.
So get those candy donations sent in. The Candy Monster is still hungry for your donations.
Trunk or Treat - Thursday, Oct. 26th 6:00-7:30 pm.
We are in need of both edible and non-edible donations, such as:
- candy
- rice crispy treats
- fruit snacks
- pretzels/cheez its
- stickers
- pencils/pens
- erasers
- slap bracelets
- slime
Want to donate non-candy & nut-free items so we can make Trunk or Treat a FUN & SAFE event for all of our friends? You can send items directly to Prairie Trail through by browsing the items marked “Trunk-orTreat” on our Amazon list here!

Penny Fridays Coming Soon!
As we prepare to host our 28th Annual Jingle Bell Jog, we will have our first Penny Friday on October 27th. Penny Friday is our annual community service project to raise money for a Marcus Cross Country scholarship. The Marcus Cross Country team has celebrated our Jingle Bell Jog with us for more than 20 years.
Last year we raised over $2,000 and we would like to meet that goal again this year! Every Friday from now until December 1st we will be collecting change or dollar bills to support this community service project. The grade level that raises the most money by December 1st, will receive a choice day in P.E. after the Jingle Bell Jog on December 8th.
Kindergarten will not participate in the actual jog, but usually attend as spectators. We look forward to them joining us in the jog when they become 1st graders. They are welcome to participate in our Penny Friday community service event.
Thanks for your support!

Technology Tip for 4th and 5th Graders
Tip for 4th and 5th Grade Parents,
We encourage you to check things on your child's school iPads. It is not an invasion of privacy or lack of trust, but rather a way for you to stay aware of projects they are working on, apps they are using, and topics for discussion. It is also a great way for you to make sure they are making good choices when they are using technology. Monitoring their technology is an important part of parenting. Although we have systems in place to monitor activities while students are at school, we also welcome your help in keeping them safe when using technology everywhere.

ANNUAL STUFF THE PANTRY FOOD DRIVE STARTS MONDAY
LISD is challenging each campus to collect food and keep score, and Prairie Trail has a reputation to uphold! For the past few years, PTE has been one of the TOP contributors to this important community event.
This year LISD will be honoring the campus and classroom with the most points during a campus event and the winning class will receive a special prize. Additionally, PTE PTA will be offering “Popcorn on the Playground” to each class that reaches their goal. The “most needed items” (listed in the graphic) are worth 2 points, all other non-perishable food items are worth 1 point.
