KEY NEWS FOR EXPLORER FAMILIES
Happy Friday Explorer Families. I’ll highlight the Georgia Department of Education Parent Survey one final time here. Hopefully the text link to it was helpful also. The feedback is reviewed at the state, district, and local levels and directly impacts Northwoods CCRPI (College and Career Readiness Performance Index) score. There are multiple components to a school’s CCRPI report, the climate survey results being one. You can find additional details in the graphic below, and I hope you’ll take a few moments to complete the survey, here.
The staff was treated to a yummy breakfast buffet on Wednesday sponsored by the Northwood PTA. Thank you PTA! We all appreciate the thoughtfulness this time of year! We also enjoyed All Pro Dads this morning with the message of service to others. I was blown away by our students who took part in Northwood’s Spelling Bee this morning as well! Congratulations to Braden Gouveia (first place) and Gabriella Gouveia (runner up)!!
With much gratitude,
Heather Rucker
Principal
GLOBAL TRAVELING MURAL PROJECT
Students in grades 3-5 created this mural to share with students from Alabama, Colorado, Connecticut, Nebraska, New York, and Maryland. With the Traveling Mural Project, we will be connecting with other school communities around the world to create murals of peace, friendship, diversity and love. We will cut our mural into 10 pieces and send 9 of them to schools across the country. Each school will send us one piece of their mural in return. We are excited to see what they share with us and to share our work with them!
NOVEMBER PBIS CELEBRATION
The rain couldn’t stop us from enjoying some BINGO for our PBIS celebration for the month of November! Students got to relax and play BINGO with classmates to celebrate being respectful, responsible, and engaged throughout the month of November. They also got to go shopping on the PBIS prize cart if they had saved up at least 10 gold slips so far this year! Ask your student how many gold slips they earned this month!
GEORGIA STUDENT HEALTH SURVEY
The Georgia Department of Education (GA DOE) requires all public schools to participate in their Georgia Student Health Survey. To see the GA DOE informational website click here. The survey has two parts: one for parents and one for students in grades 3 -12. Each school must have a 75% participation rate on the student portion of the survey. Schools failing to meet the 75% student participation rate will score 0.00 points on the school's CCRPI survey calculation under the survey portion of the School Climate Star Rating.
Parent survey: Your opinion matters! Tell us about your experiences with the district and your school by filling out the College and Career Ready Performance Index (CCRPI) Georgia Parent Survey required by the Georgia Department of Education. This survey provides a foundation for your school’s Climate Star rating score and is part of the CCRPI. These climate scores are an important indicator of culture and climate within each school in the district. Each school will receive a 1-5 star rating, with five stars representing an excellent school climate, and one star representing a school climate most in need of improvement. The surveys are anonymous and confidential and will remain open through Friday, December 15. To access the CCRPI survey, click here.
