WE WELCOME MS. TORRES TO THE SGMES STAFF!
This year, we welcome Ms. Karla Torres to our K-2 teaching team as our ELA teacher!
Ms. Torres:
Hello, my name is Ms. Torres, and I will be the new K-2nd ELA teacher. I am excited about this opportunity and experience to work at San Gabriel Mission Elementary. I worked at St. Columbkille for the past year as the second-grade teacher and had a wonderful experience there. I am grateful to continue teaching at a Catholic school.
I love teaching and working with students in general. I've worked in several locations, from daycares to schools and as a behavioral therapist in families' homes. Those experiences with children and their families have allowed me to understand and be compassionate with all kinds of children. I've always wanted to teach from a very young age. I love spending time with my family and two dogs when I'm not teaching. I live in Alhambra, so I am excited to be very close to the community of San Gabriel and be part of it!
WE WELCOME MR. LEODEGARIO ANACLETO TO THE SGMES STAFF!
This year, we welcome Mr. Anacleto to our 6-8 teaching team as our Math teacher!

Hello, San Gabriel Mission Elementary School students and families!
My name is Leodegario Anacleto, and I will be the new middle school Math Teacher! It is a great honor to be joining the school this year!

I previously taught at St. Patrick’s Catholic School in North Hollywood for the past seven years, and I am now looking forward to growing here at SGMES!
It is a humbling experience to build my career around being a teacher. Teachers have an important duty to students but are also here to serve the families and community. I hope to meet and get to know as many of you soon!
I am blessed and very excited to learn more about you during the new school year!
Many blessings,
Mr. Leodegario Anacleto

WE WELCOME MR. PETER DELGADO TO THE SGMES STAFF!
This year, we welcome Mr. Delgado to our 3-5 teaching team as our STEM teacher!
Mr. Delgado:
Hello!
My Name is Peter Delgado, and I’m excited to join the San Gabriel Mission community! It is with great pleasure and excitement that I look forward to this 2023-2024 school year. Having attended Catholic Schools since I was young, the Catholic faith has always been a prominent part of my life. I attended Saint Luke’s Catholic School from Grades K-8 and graduated from Bishop Amat Memorial High School. I received my Bachelor of Arts in Religious Studies from Occidental College in 2008 and recently earned my Master of Arts in Urban Education from Loyola Marymount University in 2022. I’ve been in education since 2011 and have taught 3rd Grade within the Los Angeles Archdiocese for the past seven years.
When I’m not in the classroom, you can usually find me working on a building project, reading, or spending time with my fiancée and our two cats, Salem and Wolfenstein. I love creating and building toys for cosplay or fun, and I hope to spread that enthusiasm to our students this year! Most of all, I love teaching and watching my students grow.
It will be a fantastic year, and I can’t wait to start this journey with all of you!
- Mr. Peter Delgado

A message from Ms. Capra:
Dear Spartans and Spartan Families,
It is with great sadness that I am announcing that I will not be returning to San Gabriel Mission Elementary School in the fall.
These past 8 years at SGMES have been a blessing and I don't take for granted what I have been provided with here. My time at SGMES has been incredibly meaningful and impactful.
I started at Mission right out of college with hope in my heart to make a small difference in the lives of others. What I didn't know, in that moment, was the love and appreciation I would feel from each and every one of you. Teaching is my calling and the students here at Mission made everyday of work worth waking up for.
It has been an honor to be a 4th grade teacher, a gradeband lead for 3rd - 5th grades, a moderator for Student Council, and the School's Instagram Coordinator.
I have grown up here, and became a better leader and teacher because of it.
To the Mission Parents: THANK YOU for communicating with me, collaborating with me, supporting me, showing your appreciation for me, and for trusting me. Witnessing and being part of your children's growth and educational journey has been a blessing. Being a part of the Mission Family has brought me love and joy that I will hold on to forever.
To the STUDENTS of SGMES: I love you. It has been an honor to teach you, grow with you, learn with you, make mistakes with you, be silly with you, hug you, laugh with you, cry with you, and to make memories with you. SPARTANS are the best! The amount of happiness you brought into my life is incomparable. The memories and experiences I have shared with you will undoubtedly stay with me for a lifetime, just as I hope they will stay with you. You'll always be my "kiddos."
To my colleagues (past and present): Thank you for sharing your passion for teaching at Mission with me. I've learned so much from you all. You are an amazing, smart, kindhearted, talented, hardworking, and supportive group of educators. Our students and families are lucky to have you.
SGMES has been a home to me.
I will miss San Gabriel Mission Elementary School and its families and students so much.
I'll forever be grateful for Mission and the people it brought into my life. This school community is something special and I'm happy I got to be a part of it.
I believe our callings call us, and I'm so happy I answered the call to volunteer at SGMES eight years ago.
Spartans and Spartan families, you will always be in my prayers.
San Gabriel Mission Elementary School, you're in my heart forever.
Blessing to you always,
Ms. Capra
