This Tuesday, October 25th, students will be bringing home their report cards. The first nine weeks ended on October 18th. On November 4th, NMS will have the "Harvest Happenin's" event. To be invited to this, students must not have any F's and must have a cumulative 2.5 GPA on their first 2022-2023 report card. Students also cannot have any incidents of in-school suspension (ISS), out-of-school suspension (OSS), or after-school detention (ASD) for the first nine weeks.

FREE online tutoring is now available for students in grades K - 12 in the areas of Math, English (Reading and Language Arts), Science and Social Studies.

This opportunity is open to any Berkeley County Schools student.

Tutoring will run every week, Monday - Thursday 5 - 7 p.m. Your tutoring session will be approximately a half hour in length.

Members of the NMS band got a taste of the Friday night lights at Spring Mills High School last week as they joined the high school band for a performance! Way to go NMS Band! We are so proud of you!

A school bond is a financial instrument issued by a public school district to finance approved capital projects. The Berkeley County Board of Education is placing a bond measure on the November 8, 2022 ballot.

Funds raised from a bond must be used for construction, renovation, and improvements to schools. The funds cannot be used for general operations or salaries. Simply put, bonds are for buildings.

Our School Superintendent, Ron Stephens, will be holding several community information sessions about the proposed school bond.

Boys basketball conditioning will begin on October 24th from 3-4:30. Copies of physicals will need to be turned in to Coach Rhoden prior to conditioning.

Girls basketball conditioning is now happening every Monday & Thursday throughout October from 5:00-6:30pm.

TRYOUTS ARE RIGHT AROUND THE CORNER! Physicals MUST be completed by the first day of tryouts!

Next week is Red Ribbon Week! The theme for this year is Celebrate Life, Be Drug Free! The purpose of Red Ribbon Week is to draw attention and awareness to the benefits of living a drug-free life! Check out the flyer below for information about our Red Ribbon Week spirit days!

Martinsburg Starbase, a Department of Defense youth program, is hosting a STEM Night on Wednesday, October 26th from 6-8pm at the Sino-Swearingen Hangar (751 Novak Dr, Martinsburg). Many community organizations and groups will be on hand to help students enjoy Science, Technology, Engineering, and Math activities. If your student is interested in these career fields, you don't want them to miss this opportunity!

After school on Wednesday, October 27th, the student council will be sponsoring a Halloween Dance. Students can purchase $5 tickets IN HOMEROOM ONLY on October 27th. Only 75 tickets per grade will be sold.

Students may wear costumes to school that day in preparation for the dance, but costumes must not distract from the school day or include hats/ masks or weapons (real or fake). For more guidelines and information about the dance, please click on the flyer below.

The Scholastic Book Fair will begin in the library on October 27th and run until November 4th! Family Night is Nov 3rd during Parent/Teacher conferences from 5-7pm. There is SO much going on at North!

*Ms. Long's students made pajama pants and oatmeal bites!

*Ms. French's class planted seeds and got a new swing for their room! (Thank you to our Occupational Therapist, Ms. Grove!!)

*Ms. Moreland & Ms. Shade's students had to work in small groups to develop a product they wanted to pitch to investors, just like in the show "Shark Tank." Each group had to develop a detailed business plan and a Google Slides presentation that told investors about their product, the target audience, how they will market the product, and how much money they needed to jump start their company.

*Ms. Gantt's classes cultured bacteria and made slides of their own cheek cells to observe under a microscope!
