The Borromeo Bulletin #47
Home of the Bobcats: November 14th
Thoughts from Dr. Voelkl...
Dear Parents,
Blessings to all of our Saint Charles Borromeo families. It always seems appropriate at when we enter the middle of November to take a few minutes to give thanks for all of the blessings in our life ESPECIALLY this year! While at times these blessings can be overshadowed by our struggles or forgotten in the midst of chaotic schedules they never cease to exist. Just as our blessings should not be forgotten, our opportunities for giving thanks should not be limited to one day. There is much research that shows that we can actually improve our physical health simply by showing gratitude, by each and every day taking just a few moments to appreciate the food we fill our plates with, not the dirty dishes left behind and the laughter of our children not the toys left in the aftermath. This message is easy to send. It is easy to tell people to show gratitude and to be grateful. It is harder to do so. So as we approach this year's Thanksgiving holiday I offer my thanks for you, for sharing your blessings with us, for sharing your time with us, for sharing your thoughts, cares, questions, gifts and talents with us. I also offer my prayers to you that when you hear the message of giving thanks and you find opportunities to be gracious you take them. It is too easy to give thanks just one day a year. There are so many days to be thankful for the blessings in life.
Warmest blessing for a season of Thanks filled with abundant joy....
Warmest blessings,
Dr. Voelkl

We are very lucky to have some new additions to our Bobcat team. We are going to use this space to post a quick get to know you questionnaire about one of our new staff members. Our first one will be from me, Mrs. Schneider! In the next newsletter we will feature a different new staff member.
Name: Angela Schneider
Married? Yup
years married? 14 Years in May
Children/animals: Michael in 5th at SCB, Amelia in Pre-k 4 at SCB, and a crazy 95Lb Chocolate Lab named Stan.
Who is your hero? I have many, my parents, and all the members of our armed forces. They hold a special place in my heart. ( I worked a lot with veterans in my previous job)
If you could live anywhere, where would it be? I love where I live. I love snow days, but not too many. I like hot summers, and pretty falls and springs. I think you get a little bit of everything right here. St. Charles is also so rich in history. I love it.
What is your favorite family vacation? We haven't traveled much, but I hope we get to go to the beach soon!
What is your proudest accomplishment? My sweet family.
What makes you laugh the most? My kids always make me laugh, and I laugh at myself a lot, I crack myself up!
If money was no object, what would you do all day? Walk dogs and play with my kids.
If you could go back in time, what year would you travel to? I love history, I would love to go to just about any time period, I think the 50’s to the 90’s I would love, the music was great, and before social media was so big.
What is the best gift you have ever been given? My family.
If you could share a meal with 4 people, living or dead, who would they be? I have a great admiration of Abraham Lincoln, I would love to meet him, Stan Musuial, and I would have to have my kids there because my son would be really upset if I got to meet them, and he did not!
What is your favorite Holiday? I have a love for all the holidays. I love all the traditions of them all.
What is the most daring thing you have ever done? ( I am a scaredy-cat and overly cautious)
NOTHING! ( maybe changing career paths after 18 years!)
What is your favorite food? I love Italian, but most of all, spaghetti.
Treat? I LOVE desert, all the cakes, cookies, pies, cheesecake, all of it!! Send it over!!
Restaurant? I love to try new places, and I love to go out, so anywhere that I don't have to cook and clean, I am happy!! ( I do love to cook, but not all the time!)
Are you related or distantly related to anyone famous? Kinda sort of Daniel Boon, we are distantly related to his wife.
What is your family motto- spoken or unspoken? Work hard, play hard!!
If you had a warning label, what would it say? I cry easily, movies, songs, good books, my kids, when I am happy, when I am sad, when I am mad, when I am stressed, when I laugh, pretty much all the time!
Who was your favorite teacher in school and why? I don’t have 1 favorite, I had many. I had great teachers who pushed me out of my comfort zone and set standards for me, and did not let me get away with not doing my best. I am forever grateful for the life lessons they taught me.
What is your favorite family tradition? Christmas Eve, lighting luminaires and seeing how pretty it is with my kids, taking a moment to stop and think about the true meaning of Christmas.
The Shop for Life Vendor Fair is BACK this year!
Are you a vendor for a company such as Plexus, Young Living Essential Oils or Color Street? Do you have your own small business?
