LISD School Newsletter

A Note from Martha...
Dear LISD Families,
Today, we held the October character awards assembly for elementary students. We recognized students who demonstrated our character habits (belonging, kindness, ownership, perseverance), celebrated October birthdays, and were treated to a kindness skit from Ms. Lorri's 4th grade class.
Next week, we will have our Term 1 character awards assemblies for middle school on Monday and high school on Wednesday. Teachers recognize students for demonstrating the character habits during the first term of the year. We'll host these assemblies after each term. Though ownership and perseverance are habits of scholarship that can certainly result in the mastery of knowledge and skills, these awards are largely about effort and improvement.
In other news, the superintendent position was posted this week! It's a half time position and you can read about it HERE. The superintendent search committee is hard at work, writing questions and designing the interview process as we process applications. We are also accepting applications for a full time K-12 counselor. Our long-time school counselor, Jeanna Carter, is retiring in December. If you know folks who meet the qualifications and are interested in joining us, please forward the job postings to them. Thank you!
Have a wonderful weekend!
All my best,
Martha Martin

Sharpening happens on Fridays, ideally you would drop them off in the morning and then John will have them done before 3pm. There is one spot available for next week. Email jshaw@lopezislandschool.org to get the next available slot.
