Learning Model Selection Form

McCombs Students and Families,


The Des Moines School Board approved a resolution to begin implementing a plan by the Superintendent that would give students and families the choice between continuing with virtual learning or changing to a hybrid option that would include some in-person classes. In addition, the School Board will be working with local health officials to establish a set of metrics on safely re-opening schools and/or determining when a closure might be necessary due to COVID-19 conditions in the community.


Please read the information posted here for more about the learning model options, key dates in the transition to this plan, and health and safety issues to consider about in-person learning.


Then, please complete the Learning Model Selection Form for your student(s) by Sunday, October 4. To complete this selection form, you will be asked to log in with your household's primary phone number as listed in Infinite Campus. It is very important that you complete this form so we have accurate information as to which model you student(s) will be in moving forward.

IMPORTANT- Technology Care & Virtual Learning Attendance

We have received several computers the past few days that have been extremely damaged and are no longer usable. While we understand that accidents happen, some of this damage could have been avoided. Please continue to work with your student on taking care of their computer so that it continues to work as needed. It takes time to repair broken screens, missing keys, etc. and we don't want any of our students missing out on virtual learning while these repairs take place. Thank you for your continued support with this.


We also would like to remind students and families that in our virtual learning model, attendance is considered participating in learning for that day. We have some students who are signing into their Teams meeting, but are not responding to questions or submitting any work. It is extremely important that students are participating in learning each day so that we can support them in their learning, correct any mistakes, and make sure that they are getting the instruction they need to stay caught up in class.


If for some reason your student is not able to participate in virtual learning for the day, please call our office at 242-8447 to report their absence.

Material Distribution- Monday, September 28

If you haven't had a chance to pick up the Language Arts or Algebra 1 workbooks for your students, you can do so on Monday, September 28 from 3-6 pm. We'll be in the front drive; please pull up and we'll get you the materials that you need.


If you still have one of the old hot spots that you need to switch out for a newer version, you can do that during this time as well.
