Georgia milestones assessment schedule and updates
Parents,
This school year our scholars will take the End of Grade and/or the End of Course test for the Georgia Milestones Assessment System. These assessments will be administered to students beginning April 30th through May 14th. This school year the EOG assessment will not be used as a gateway to the next grade, and the EOC assessment will not count for 20% of the scholar’s numerical grade as in previous years. However, the results will be used to determine the scholars' areas of strength and areas of growth.
In preparation for the GMAS, we have provided the testing schedules for the End of the Grade (EOG) for 6th-8th grade scholars, and the schedule for the End of Course (EOC) for 8th grade students currently taking 9th grade Algebra 1 and High School Physical Science. The maximum testing times listed on the schedule are approximations; therefore, the end times may vary. Furthermore, the maximum testing times do not account for any students with accommodations. Students with accommodations may receive extended time.
Furthermore, please make sure that your scholar brings his/her fully charged district-issued device for testing daily. Remind your scholar to charge the device each night. Students may not bring any other device for testing other than the one given to them by the school district. All other devices need to remain home. If your scholars bring cell phones, smart watches, and any other personal device, the items will be stored with the testing administrator until testing has concluded for the day. Additionally, please ensure that your child gets plenty of sleep each night in preparation for testing, and encourage him/her to eat breakfast each morning. Breakfast is provided here at the school daily free of charge. We ask that your scholar arrives to school on time each day. The school day begins at 8:55 AM.
Although the state of Georgia is continuing with state testing this school year, parents may choose to opt-out of testing for their scholar this year. If you would still like for your scholar to opt-out of testing, and you did not complete the survey provided by the district/school, or you did not email your request to the school, you may email Mrs. Branch, Assessment Coordinator, at branchp@fultonschools.org and request for your scholar to not participate in the Georgia Milestones Test for this school year. You will need the following in your request:
- name and grade level of your scholar
- your contact information
- indicate that you (the parent/guardian) are requesting for your scholar to opt-out of GMAS testing
All face-to-face students who have not opted-out of testing for this school year will be required to test. However, those students not testing will be given asynchronous assignments to complete by his/her teachers during the testing window. Additionally, any face-to-face student who has opted -out of testing, may remain at home during the testing window to complete these assignments.
Remote learning students interested in testing must report to the school building in order to test. Your testing area will be separate from the face-to-face scholars. Also, at the conclusion of testing, parents/guardians will need to pick-up his/her scholar from school. Any remote learning student, not testing will be given asynchronous assignments by his/her teachers to complete at home.
Thank you for your continued support and cooperation. If you have any questions or concerns regarding this matter, you may contact our front office at 470-254-4330.

RMS Summer School Program
RMS Parents,
We are excited to announce that this year’s summer school program is not a “re-do”, but instead it is a “reboot!” This year’s program has been revamped and expanded to accommodate the various needs of our scholars. The criteria for summer school is as follows:
- Students who would like to retake a year-long World Language course to clear an incomplete or recover credit with Fulton Virtual
- Students with two or more WF’s, F’s, and/or two or more Incompletes in core content areas (ELA, Math, Science, or Social Studies). Students attending summer school because of incompletes or F’s in Science or Social Studies should register for Reading/ELA.
- Teacher recommendation- students identified through iReady Diagnostic for enrichment (students will receive a special invitation from the school)
- Current 8th graders who will be rising to 9th graders next school year are eligible to take acceleration with Fulton Virtual
Summer school dates are June 17th – June 24th, and the hours for face-to-face instruction are 8:55 AM – 12:55 PM (Monday-Friday). Breakfast and lunch will be provided. Transportation is available, but the assigned stops are limited to the Sweep Bus routes. Because our school building will be under construction this summer, the summer school program for Renaissance Middle School will be held at Camp Creek Middle School in Atlanta, Georgia.
