SP West Student/Parent/Caregiver Newsletter Vol 1:11 10/24
Welcome to Week 8
Greetings West Wolves and Parent/Caregivers,
We continue to Create the Future together! Last week 50 students from PPA, East and our very own wolves went on an HBCU trip visiting museums, historical landmarks and historically Black colleges and universities. The trip was an incredible success and the joy of the students and staff is tangible in the pictures. We celebrated our first ever playoff season with many of our teams headed to the post season in fall sports. Congratulations Wolves! We are also nearing the end of 1st quarter: November, 8th. Students- please make sure you are reaching out to your teachers, using WIN time (SP30 on Tuesday-Thursday) and 5th hour tutoring to get any extra help you may need to make sure your grades are on point. The end of 1st quarter marks the half way point for the semester. Semester grades are the grades that go on your transcript, determine your GPA, earn you credit and colleges see. Here's to a great week Wolves!

Important Information Regarding School Phones and 911
In our beautiful new building we have many phones including in conference rooms where students can work collaboratively and in classrooms near student work stations. We have seen an uptick in 911 calls made in non-emergency situations and wanted to send out a few reminders/warnings:
No student should be using a school based phone without the knowledge/permission of a teacher unless it is a true emergency situation
Calling 911 in a non-emergency situation is both a crime and against school rules.
Legal consequences can follow up to and include: a ticket, fine, jail time (extreme cases)
School consequences will follow, up to and including: ISS, OSS and community services to the school
