Tis the Season to be Thankful

As we approach the Thanksgiving holiday, I want to take a moment to express my deep gratitude to each and every one of you. In the midst of our daily routines and the challenges that come with the education profession, it is important to pause and reflect on the many reasons we have to be thankful.

Our school is not just a building; we are a community of dedicated professionals who work tirelessly to create a positive and nurturing environment for our students. Each one of you plays a vital role in shaping the lives of the students we serve. Whether you are in the classroom, one of the offices, the cafeteria, or any other department, your contributions are invaluable.

Every day presents its unique set of challenges, and yet, through it all, your resilience, creativity, and unwavering commitment to our students has been truly inspiring. Your ability to adapt and overcome obstacles has not gone unnoticed, and I am grateful to lead such an exceptional team.

Thanksgiving is a time to reflect on the blessings in our lives, and I consider myself fortunate to work alongside such a dedicated and passionate group of individuals who has become a family. Together, we create a supportive and enriching educational environment that positively impacts the lives of our students.

Thank You to the Performing Arts Department for Organizing the Amazing Production of Mean Girls

A special congratulations to Caleb Francis for directing his FIRST musical at SHS. Southport is lucky to have him and we can't wait to see what the future productions bring!

Jacki Richardson is deserving of a round of applause as well. The vocal performances and overall showmanship of our students were so fetch!

Austin Lundsford is the glue to keeps it all together. His ability to work with all aspects of the theatre made the production go off without a hitch.

Elementary State Spell Bowl Competition

SHS hosted the elementary state spell bowl competition this week. Thank you so Mr. Woodke and our cusotdial crew for getting the event setup and ready to go for our elementary schools. Also, thank you to the PE department for your flexibility with losing your classroom space for another event.

Michelle Westerhouse

Michelle Westerhouse's English 9 class is preparing to read The Odyssey. The students participated in chat stations in order to obtain background knowledge of the Trojan War, Odysseus, and the various gods/goddesses. The students then created story boards and made a prediction about what they thought the Odyssey is going to be about.
