SELECT LEARNING PREFERENCE TO BEGIN APRIL 6
Dear District 44 Families
Please choose your family’s preferred learning model for the final portion of the school year.
Please click here to complete the survey via Skyward Family Access (should the link not work, please visit sd44.org and select "Skyward Family Access".) The survey will be open until 5 pm on Monday, March 8, 2021.
Directions on how to complete the survey via Skyward can be found by clicking here. Those who do not complete the survey by 5 pm on March 8 will be automatically enrolled in remote-only.
Please know your requested learning model (hybrid/in-person or remote only) will not take effect until Tuesday, April 6, 2021. This means if your child is currently in-person or remote only, they will remain as such until April 6. To better understand current and anticipated changes to our instructional schedule please review the embedded graphic.
Please understand the following before making your selection:
- All families are required to complete the survey. Those who do not complete the survey by the deadline will be automatically enrolled in the remote-only option.
- All students -- whether they continue with their current learning model or not -- will remain in the same homeroom.
- Due to health and safety concerns, general education transportation (grades K-8 only) will be very limited; not all families will be guaranteed. If your selection is contingent upon transportation being provided, please indicate so in the survey.
- We advise you to make your selection based on our current schedule model. We will be evaluating our schedule over the next few weeks to see if we can make additional adjustments (i.e. adding more onsite days), but our ability to do so will be contingent upon how many students select hybrid learning.
- Your requested learning model (in-person or remote only) will not take effect until April 6.

We are excited to safely welcome our students to Glenn Westlake Middle School to have their school/yearbook pictures taken for the 2020-2021 school year. HR Imaging will be photographing our students this year. We are confident in our safety procedures, as well as those of HR Imaging, to allow our students to be safely photographed. You can view HR Imaging’s Picture Day Safety video by clicking here.
Families must sign up for one time slot per child over the course of two Saturdays. The two dates are Saturday, March 6, and Saturday, March 13. No more than 50 students will be scheduled per 15-minute time slot. You can arrive at any time in that 15-minute slot. In order to register for your time slot, please click here. Please register using your student’s name. HR Imaging will be sending an email to parents with order information. Please watch for this in the coming days. We will also have forms at picture day for students to pick up.
Please read the following notes prior to coming to Glenn Westlake.
Families should enter GWMS from the north drive and drop their students off at Door #13 which is on the north side of the building. Parents will then move forward with their vehicle and park/wait for their student to exit the building from Door #1. There will be signage to guide you.
From there, the student will be greeted by a volunteer/staff member who will confirm their covid self-certification was received and give them a photo card to help identify them. In-Person Learners will have already completed the Self-Certification.
FOR REMOTE LEARNERS ONLY: If you have not filled out the covid self-certification form please have that done prior to arriving at the school. Click here for a copy of the Self-Certification form.
After entering Door #13, the student will proceed into the cafeteria to the designated HR Imaging photography area and have their photo taken. There will be staff/parent volunteers to guide them.
Once the photograph is taken, all students will be directed to exit Door #1 (front entrance to GWMS).
A mask must be worn at all times while in the building. The only exception is while the photograph is being taken.
WHS VOLUNTEERS NEEDED at GWMS to help with the PICTURE DAYS. Please consider helping out!
If you are able to volunteer to help with the picture day opportunities, please sign up using the link below!
Some of the tasks needing parent support include:
- Working outside directing students into the building at Door 13 and telling parents to move forward to park or wait at Door #1.
- Checking in students (inside Door #13) and handing them their "photo card" for the photographer.
- Guiding them to the cafeteria for their pictures.
- Guiding them from the cafeteria to Door #1.
- Outside directing traffic.
