Finishing Strong
Dear Fife Community,
There are many aspects involved in getting "Back to Fife" this school year and with that getting back to good academic habits and remembering the importance and positive impact acts of kindness are essential.
Academic Habits
FHS recently celebrated that we had over 400 students earn either above a 3.2 GPA or showed a .5 GPA improvement from last semester in our Renaissance program first quarter. That is almost half of the school and in a transitional semester where we are coming back to in-person, full-time learning, that is exciting news!
We are now just weeks away from final grades so students are in crunch time finishing up their courses for 1st semester. Now is the time to finish strong, wrapping up assignments, studying, and preparing for final exams which are January 26th and 27th. The semester officially ends January 27th.
Kindness
In December, we saw so much kindness on display around campus, all of which helps rebuild a strong school climate. The FHS Advanced Leadership Class organized Winter Wishes which ended a 3-month community service push to make a difference in our community. Our food drive which ended before the Thanksgiving holiday was able to collect over $10,000 in cash donations along with one of the largest food item deliveries in the last 5 years. All of those cans and cash will go to the Fife Food Bank to help benefit people in need.
Winter Wishes this year proved to be unlike any other at Fife High School. Fife students requested over 900 wishes ranging from things students actually needed to items that would simply bring a smile to their day. During the two weeks of Winter Wishes, our student body, alumni, booster club, and a countless number of teachers accepted and filled over 400 of those wishes for their fellow Trojans.
Adopt-a-Family
Part of Winter Wishes is identifying families here at Fife High School that might need a little help during a tough holiday season. Fife was able to identify 27 families in need this year and arrange for all of them to be adopted. Last year, Fife ASB and Leadership was able to help collect close to $4,000 to provide for needy students. This year with an incredible donation by Milgard Windows and Doors of $10,000 we were able to collect upwards of $13,000 dollars that was spent on people in need during the holiday season.
"Our goal was to help put something under the tree, or on the table for as many people as possible this holiday season who needed help. That is exactly what we did in a very big way. Thank you so much to all those involved in making the last three months something truly incredible to be a part of at Fife High School." - Brian Meyer, Leadership Teacher
Fife High Heroes
We are living in a world that at times struggles to show kindness, so at Fife we've been emphasizing the importance of this simple aspect of our Heart of the Trojan while looking for those Fife High Heroes out there who have gone out of their way to show kindness to others around campus. The last few weeks of December we collected nominations for Fife High Heroes, check out the list linked here and what they what kindness feats they were being recognized for: Fife High Heroes
