As a freshman, Osvaldo Jimenez was named the Laredo Morning Times All-City Newcomer of the Year, and he has been a steady force for the Hawks. Jimenez has made trips to the regional meet and narrowly missed qualifying for state. This year he will be joined by new varsity runners in senior Luis Morales, sophomore Antonio Hernandez and four freshmen in Angel Diaz, Tristan De La Garza, Eddie Guerrero and Lizandro Puente.
“We are looking to compete for the district title this year and qualify to the regional meet as a team,” Harmony head coach Francisco Figueroa said. “We have a young team, but we are led by Osvaldo Jimenez who has barely missed qualifying to state meet twice. Osvaldo is working hard this year to qualify to the state meet. We have set big goals this year as a team and individually.”
