Family Newsletter
December 12th, 2022
Dear Twin Oaks Families,
This is our final week before Winter Break. The school year is flying by. The Winter Break is scheduled for Monday, December 19th - Tuesday, January 3rd. Students return to school on Wednesday, January 4th.
TOSA Meeting: The December TOSA Meeting is this Tuesday, December 13th. We will be meeting on Zoom. Click this LINK to log into the meeting. Our TOSA board would love to have more families joining the monthly meetings.
Cocoa, Cookies and BINGO: Join us for a fun, family gathering on Wednesday, December 14th, 6:30-7:30pm. We will be playing bingo while enjoying cocoa and cookies. There will be fabulous prizes for bingo winners.
Donation Requests: Thank you to our families who have sent in clothes their children have out grown and gift cards to purchase underwear and socks. We are still in need of sweatpants and leggings sizes 5-8. We are also looking for used but still useful warm coats for recess. Our teachers keep 2 coats in their classroom for students who forgot to wear one.
Twin Oaks Apparel: Black Timber Graphics creates and sells custom apparel for Twin Oaks Elementary. They are currently offering a Holiday Sale. All t-shirts and sweatshirts are available at 20% off regular cost. The link to their website is blacktimbergraphics.com/twinoaks
The Eugene Education Foundation Awarded Twin Oaks Elementary Three Grants: We received $5700 to fund 3 of our EEF grant requests. The funds we received will purchase books for our Book Vending Machine; comfortable furniture for the library; and ukuleles for music classes. We appreciate the Eugene Education Foundation. The goal of this foundation is to raise money so they can provide grants to the Eugene 4J schools. There is additional information in this newsletter regarding EEF grants. To receive $5700 for school projects from EEF is phenomenal. There are photos of our 1st grade students enjoying the new library furniture.
Every day is a beautiful day when we are with our students!

EEF AWARDS GRANTS TO TWIN OAKS ELEMENTARY !
Eugene Education Foundation’s Board of Directors approved 3 of our grant proposals. We received $1000 for new books; $2200 for ukuleles and $2500 for comfortable, kid friendly library furniture.
Two of the grants that our staff submitted did not receive funding. One of the grant requests was to purchase items for a chess club. The other request was to create an Outdoor Experiential Learning environment for our students.
Grant support is in addition to donor-earmarked gifts for Twin Oaks Elementary through EEF, thanks to the support of community businesses and individuals who see the value in public education.
Some of our dreams remain unfulfilled here at Twin Oaks. If you have not already made a gift this year, would you consider doing so now? Make your check payable to "Twin Oaks/EEF" and mail it to Eugene Education Foundation, P.O. Box 1015, Eugene, Oregon 97440. You can also contribute by credit card or monthly bank transfers. For more information go to https://eeflane.org or call 541-790-7744.

Winter Weather: Be In The Know
The weather is mild right now, but winter is coming. There are several ways to find out when hazardous weather conditions close or delay schools or alter bus routes.
How to find out if there is a change:
- Receive text message from the district (if you are not currently receiving occasional text messages with important information from 4J, learn how)
- Check the district website, www.4j.lane.edu
- Follow 4J social media: Facebook, Twitter @4Jweather & @4Jschools
- Tune in to local radio and television news stations
No News = No Change. School closures and other changes are decided early in the morning and announced by all of these methods before 6:30 a.m. If schools and buses are on their regular schedules, there will NOT be an announcement.
