PRAYER FOR OUR GRADUATES
We pray for our graduates today and lift them before you. We thank you so much for these we love and for the work you are continuing to do in their lives. They are a gift to us and to many others. And during this season of new beginnings, we ask that you would make their way clear. We ask that you would keep their footsteps firm and remind them that you are with them, always. May they sense the freshness of your Spirit over their lives in amazing ways, may they be strengthened, instilled with hope, for the new roads you have in store.
And today, again, we release our children straight into your tender care. Because we know that’s the best place they could ever be. We thank you in advance for all you have in store, for this day, for this year, for their lives.
We pray for protection, for your covering, that you would surround their lives as with a shield. Protect their coming and going. We ask that you would help them to live aware in a dark world and keep harm or evil intent far away. We ask that you would hide them in the safety of your powerful presence.
We ask for your wisdom and clear direction over their lives, that you would give them understanding beyond their years. Thank you that your timing is perfect. We pray that you would direct their steps, that your plans for them would prosper; that every place you have determined for them to walk would be paved clear.
We ask for you to open doors that need to be opened and close every one that should be shut tight. Allow every gift and treasure you have placed inside their lives to grow, develop, and flourish, to bring you glory.
We ask that you would remind them every day how very much you love them, that they would find security and confidence fully in you, knowing that you are trustworthy and true.
We ask that you would teach them your ways and fill them with an unquenchable desire to learn your word. Give them a compassionate spirit, and the wisdom to look beyond outward appearances to the heart within. We pray that you would surround them with friends and leaders who would challenge them to press closer to you.
We ask for your peace to cover them. We ask for laughter and joy to fill their days. We pray that you would give them boldness and courage to face challenges set before them, with the confidence and peace that can only come from your spirit.
We ask that you would raise up greatness in their lives, greatness in this generation, willing to stand strong and true, passionate for you, believing that you have designed them for purpose and good works, which you have planned and prepared in advance for them to do.
Be a lamp for their feet, and a light to their path. Shine over them. Fill them with your spirit. Bless them with your favor and peace.
FROM THE PRINCIPAL
Dear Parents/Guardians,
Congratulations to our 8th graders who are graduating this week. We wish them all the best as they move onto the next phase of their education. They had a wonderful time on the Washington DC trip last week. Thanks to Mr. Ceja for his organization of the trip.
Staffing Update
There comes a time every year where staff make decisions whether or not to continue on in a school. Unfortunately, we will be saying farewell to: Miss Morison who will be moving out of state, Miss Rose-Marsh who will be transitioning into a counseling career, and Miss Short who will be pursuing teaching in the public sector. All positions have been filled. We welcome Mrs. Pyun back as the Kindergarten teacher, Miss Ruano as the 4th grade teacher, Miss Villano as the 2nd grade teacher, and Miss Cadelago as the 2nd grade teacher assistant.
School Finances
All school finances need to be paid by May 31st. As of today, there is an outstanding amount of $35,000. This is a far better amount than from previous years where it has been close to $70,000. I wish to thank Ms. Escobar for her diligent effort in maintaining the finances for the school. We run on a tuition-based model, and we are very dependent upon tuition to meet budget. For any families with outstanding amounts, we are unable to issue report cards and yearbooks until the amount is cleared. Re-enrollment is also placed on hold for the following year. There is no guarantee that your child’s place will be available for the following year.
I do wish to thank the majority of families for keeping up to date with their financial commitments to the school.
New Science Program
We have been reviewing various science programs for junior high, and I am happy to announce that we will be implementing a program from Amplify. The program places emphasis on hands-on experiments and reporting of results.

I am attaching a pdf of locations for the Summer Food Service Program. Since our school is part of the Federal Lunch Program, families will have access to meals.

MS. J'S JOURNAL
“A journey of a thousand miles begins with a single step.” - Chinese philosopher Laozi
We start out on many journeys in life, and each first step brings with it many possibilities. Along the way we start over many times taking a first step toward making new friends, moving to a new city, taking a new job, or facing any of the many choices that lead us on our personal paths. For most of us the first step of our elementary school journeys was Kindergarten. Our 8th graders took that first step nine years ago, and tonight at graduation that particular journey will end. They will soon start a new journey, into high school, with another first step.
As they take that first step I offer them, and all of you, these words taken from a favorite poster in my office:
Today is the day. Live your life with abandon. Be good to yourself. Create happiness. BE courageous and wild at heart. Make friends everywhere you go. Believe in your own power, strength, and fortitude. Surround yourself with love. Take chances and be spontaneous. This is your life. Make it beautiful.
Happy Graduation 8th Grade! May your new journey be a beautiful adventure.
All the best,
Miss J

BOX TOPS
Box Tops for Education was started by General Mills in California back in 1996, after the company decided they wanted to create a program to help support education and benefit America’s schools. All Souls has benefitted from this program over the years, receiving sports equipment, microscopes, and a variety of other educational items.
You can help by clipping the Box Tops off approved products you already have in your pantry. You don't need to clip the actual product UPC — just the Box Tops logo will do. From frozen foods to produce and household cleaning products, there are literally hundreds of opportunities to help, and each Box Top is worth 10 cents. Doesn't sound like a lot, but it adds up fast.
There are so many participating companies! Participating companies and product lines include General Mills, Green Giant, Totino's, Pillsbury, Old El Paso, Ziploc, Hefty, Juicy Juice, Betty Crocker and many more. For a full list of eligible items check the Box Tops for Education website at https://www.boxtops4education.com/earn .
